Larry, It comes down to what you need to show and how you want to show it. With the CA Cross section tool you get everything. For me, I want everything and then I want to make the important stuff read stronger. If I cut a section and there is a closet door in the back ground, I want to show that but with a very faint line weight. The object that I actually cut through reads very strong and (hopefully) I have made my cut somewhere that shows the critical information (heights dimensioned, a connection spot to then have a detail call out, etc.). The back clipped cross section is helpful to me if I want to create a CAD detail from a section but a building section I want to cull things out differently.

What are you doing to change the color? Are you changing the material in the DBX? If I was to venture to guess, you are hitting it with the material painter tool.

Don't feel bad, we all....never mind.

BBallman, the videos look good. I appreciate your pacing and camera moves. I have only made a few vain attempts at moving the camera in Cheif and it is pretty frustrating since it offers no curve editing of the animation. I will keep you in mind if I have a need to output an animation. What animation software are you using? Thanks Alan

You need to create layers unique to each set of dimensions that you want to isolate. Then you need a unique Layerset for each plan you send to layout so you can isolate the layers per drawing sent.

Here is an image with my framing settings. No Soffit checked in the options tab. I am not sure how much more automatic that could have been unless you phoned it in?

How do you make a cable railing if Chief X6?
Gawdzira replied to VinnieVicon's topic in General Q & A
Yes, you are almost there but see pic one - Make the Rail Style to Panel See pic two - assign cables to the panel, not the balusters -
@JFelix - Super cool profile pic graphic. @Chief, please make the room planner app draw walls like RedStick

Make it a ramp. It is a ramp at nearly 1:12.

A couple of things. If you have the garage front wall set to balloon frame, it is creating an overlap with the attic wall. The same thing is happening on the wall at plan right (east?) at the master bedroom. Delete those attic walls to eliminate that conflict. 1. go to the attic level in plan and select the wall 2. on the wall dbx General tab, uncheck attic wall, now you can delete the wall As shown on the east elevation, you have added a wall covering. You need to simply change your siding type. Did you use the material painter on the wall exterior? That is not a good tool for changing the wall finish if that is what you did. For the garage wall, if you want that look with the stone skirt you need to make that wall a pony wall in order to get the materials to read properly.

Very strange, the plan file has no data. It looks like you did a Back Up Entire Plan but the plan file in the zip has 0kb

Post your plan. Do you have a sun?

There are many guesses possible for the causes of these (probably) slight issues. Post your plan file and it will be a lot easier to trouble shoot the real causes. For the wall to attic wall issue, did you modify your wall while in an elevation view?

What layers, layersets, and anno sets can be deleted from Premier
Gawdzira replied to MarkMc's topic in General Q & A
@Marc, is it disabled in plan view and cross sections? It is not available for 3d views. -
What layers, layersets, and anno sets can be deleted from Premier
Gawdzira replied to MarkMc's topic in General Q & A
I have no scientific evidence to support this but I would venture to guess that for every week (40 hours) of production drawing with Anno sets (properly set up in your base file) you can save at least 4 hours. -

Layers, I don't know. There may be a hack somewhere to lose them from the profile plan but I don't know. You an lose all of those Layersets by going into the defaults and changing them from being a part of the defaults. Look at the defaults for Layersets and you will see the connection. First you must delete the Annosets and then you can delete the associated Layersets. I just did a test and got down to three Annosets and about the same number of Layersets. Bear in mind, if you import something or copy something or grab something out of the library it may have been assembled with other associations so they will ride with the new object. -
Copy the words and paste into a text box. I do this all the time for project data.
-
Post your file to drop box and see if someone else can print it. I was having printing problems with the beta version but the update is working better. Make sure to do a "Back Up Entire Plan" to a folder from your layout file. It will be a big folder but just zip the folder for upload.

I was trying to cheat by adding a polyline to the bay to see if I could make a symbol. I had not thought that the wall would need to be along for the ride. That works great. Thanks, Bill

From what I can tell it is controlled by demons.

What you need to do is plan your drawings well. Your text size is set in your plan file. By knowing what scale you will send your file to layout determines your text size done in the plan file. For me, if I send a plan at 1/4" scale my text is 5". For 1/8" scale 10". For 1" details, 1.5". That puts all the text in layout at close to 1/8" tall actual.

Oh how I love the Utah snow. I have not been there in too long. Our closest area for us is Tahoe right now. We have passes for the Vail resorts and I really wanted to make it out to Utah or Colorado this year but it did not work out. Now that baseball (coaching) season has started I will be lucky to get 2 more days. In the early 90's I designed and built 3 years of trade show booths for K2 snowboards. After the first show I started snowboarding and didn't put skiis back on until I started teaching my kids about 17 years later. My son just started snowboarding on our last trip (he is 9). He surfs and skateboards so the snowboarding is coming fast to him. Possibly the worst thing we ever did for our kids was to get them a good trampoline. He can do consecutive reversing flips. He is eyeing the terrain park like a fox at the hen house window.

Am I missing something or is it really not possible to copy the new Bay Window? I would really like to make this once. But I think I have to make it 3 times.

Is there a fill to mimic the batt insulation box that can bend on a curve?
