  1. I am finishing up a submission for planning approval (Carmel,California). This is the concept meeting and there are two more drawings needed as well as rendered elevations for the finals meeting. I am already up to 10 full sized sheets for the requirements. What I love best about this jurisdiction is that they want the full sized sheet drawing to be used for the reduced 11x17 sheet sized reduction that is required. But they want a minimum font size on the reduction making it so that I have to boost up all my font sizes to the point that I am putting 14" tall text on my site plan that gets sent at 1/8" scale. Therefore, I am completely redesigning my submission style and I am not able to put anything but key notes on the 1/8" scale plans or it would just be a jumble of overlapping text. I even bit the bullet and changed most of my title font to Arial. Oh the humanity. Here is the good the bad and the ugly. But if you are going to bother to look at it please find some typos. I have never learned to spell guhd. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1i286ytpy1qsg49/AABr6Jmfqp6kbc9TB_LxzALTa?dl=0

  3. @Jonathan, great framing of the camera What camera FOV angle are you using? I started changing my camera FOV to 60-65 for the exterior views and I love the change.
  4. Almost every time I copy and paste in an elevation view the item goes to the wrong floor (in my opinion).
  5. So let me get this straight. You are having a hard time finding accurate information to knock off an iconic (copyrighted) design? That is so unfair!
  6. Change the main layer to only the outside material as shown and the stucco goes up. I tried the block layer but that did not work. I would have thought the block layer would be the correct main layer but not according the CA.
  7. Thanks Joe. I was missing that check box. I was looking on the label tab and missed it on the first tab.
  8. This is a nice to fair hack but I actually use plants in my drawings. I would need to remove all plants from my construction documents to get the schedule to work with only the notes items. Or, is there another way to filter out the plants from the schedule other than by floor?
  9. Thanks Joe. The stretch plane is the charm. Now if we could just have word wrap or less to say.
  10. I made the poly solid and set it to air gap material. When I go to move them, if I accidentally resize the object all the component data is lost. Do you have your note item object locked for shape somehow?
  11. Great idea. Thanks Joe. I just set one up in a plan file and I will add this to my Library for dropping into plans.
  12. I don't think that CA could be expected to create walls from cad that has such a varied wall thickness represented. I think you are looking for a button called "Draftsman for Hire".
  13. I am guessing (and why on earth do I do this?) that the thingymabob that you show in plan on top of the wall is not higher than the counter top.
  14. Perry, what is up with the rotated schedule? Are you rotating everything in layout?
  15. Yes, after you start to drag, hit the Tab key. This brings up a quick version of the transform replicate tool where you can input the distance desired.
  16. I am assuming this is pretty good. I have a direct line to my pc with Comcast.
  17. I think 3 step is if you can actually dance. What I do near musical sounds has never been confused with dancing.
  18. I am with Jim in the Attic Wall Camp. But, we are guessing without a plan file. When you go to post a plan file make sure the file is not currently open in Chief and then zip the file for upload. If it is too big, put it up on a file sharing site like Drop Box.
  19. The 2 step do step why step twice step web forum....see the pic.
  20. See the attached image. Once in the cabinet DBX select the actual door to change in the DBX camera window (1). That brings up the "Front" tab (2). From there you can select the door of choice from the Library (3).
  21. I rarely agree with Scott on important issues like this but I think he nailed it regarding Todd's avatar. I just can't focus on the question because I keep thinking you are having issues with the brick layer showing up on the inside of the room.
  22. The only way I have had this worked consistently is to click my heels together 3 times and chant....
  23. I am pretty sure the Guttenbergs outlast the Brother printers.
  24. I have been using the Brother MFC-J6920DW for about 6 months. Superior on ink usage to the HP all in one models I had in the past. The things I really love about it are the 11x17 scan bed and that it has 2 paper trays so I can keep both 8.5x11 and 11x17 paper on board all the time. The 11x17 scan bed is great as I use 11x17 paper for as built field notes and so I can scan and import easily.
