Have you tried aligning things with the make parallel tool? Post that plan as that seems very odd if they are parallel.

If i remember correctly you can only edit roof planes in v10 from the plan view. Make your plan view look like the attached image by breaking the roof plane where it is circled and then stretch it up along the direction of the arrow. How to get the correct height in that ancient software is a mystery to me. I did use v10 when I first bought the program but only for a few weeks as X1 was just being released.

Use an invisible wall to divide the room in order to make the distinct ceiling planes

What do you want it to look like? Can you sketch out the desired result?

If you are using X6 you might do well to use the pdf output directly from Chief. I am very happy with the results currently.

Due to the economic crisis in the U.S. we have been downsizing and therefore a 400 s.f. house in the us is all that we can afford to build. Most families are sleeping in one room, vertically. Our cars have also gotten much smaller so most garages are barely bigger than a bread box. I primarily travel by skateboard or when traveling long distance I throw a net over flocks of seagulls and hope to be pulled in the general direction of my destination. Or, refer to Glenn's post.

Mickey, yes. That is the deal with those things. Those are known as City Hall layers. Don't fight it.

So I have been wondering if it was just me. Did I lose my ability to control my mouse? Are my glasses so very bad? Do I need to give up coffee? Drink more coffee? No! I just needed to get the friggin setting right on my prefs. The edit tolerance size was set to zero minutes ago. Now, all is well with the world as long as Pandora radio does not make me do a sponsor activity for feminine hygiene products.

Drawing Field Is Huge, Drawing And Elevations Lost In Background
Gawdzira replied to Tricia's topic in General Q & A
Zoom out as far as you can but still locate your plan. Do a marquis selection in the zones where your project is not and see if anything shows up selected, delete. -
Do a search for "Volute" on the old website forum.

If you take a group of your items and make an Architectural Block and save that to the Library it will maintain the layer assignments when you explode the block after dropping it into your new plan. This is probably a more efficient way to work considering the task. Just save out a large group of items that you are using in each plan and then drop that group off to the side of the plan for picking and choosing as you draw.

Rooms In Plan Will Not Open For Specification

That took longer than I expected. I was hoping the dig would drive Wendy out of hiding. -

@1st Impression, sometimes when making a selection with the mouse you get something else that is in close proximity and has a higher selection priority. You can click then hit the tab key to scroll through the items that the mouse has clicked over. Also, this could be an issue of how your preferences are set regarding whether you select the room first or not. -

I used to (kindly) scream at this kid in the studio where I worked. He spoke girl. He just strung words together in sentences with no subjects. I would slam down my fist on the desk "I need NOUNS": Kinda the same way with the plan files but no one can hear my fist. I was going to throw out the reversed wall guess earlier but I was on a deadline and I am a fan of the peanut gallery. How about that thread with the electrical item hack. That is some good stuff. -
I am finishing up a submission for planning approval (Carmel,California). This is the concept meeting and there are two more drawings needed as well as rendered elevations for the finals meeting. I am already up to 10 full sized sheets for the requirements. What I love best about this jurisdiction is that they want the full sized sheet drawing to be used for the reduced 11x17 sheet sized reduction that is required. But they want a minimum font size on the reduction making it so that I have to boost up all my font sizes to the point that I am putting 14" tall text on my site plan that gets sent at 1/8" scale. Therefore, I am completely redesigning my submission style and I am not able to put anything but key notes on the 1/8" scale plans or it would just be a jumble of overlapping text. I even bit the bullet and changed most of my title font to Arial. Oh the humanity. Here is the good the bad and the ugly. But if you are going to bother to look at it please find some typos. I have never learned to spell guhd. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1i286ytpy1qsg49/AABr6Jmfqp6kbc9TB_LxzALTa?dl=0

@Jonathan, great framing of the camera What camera FOV angle are you using? I started changing my camera FOV to 60-65 for the exterior views and I love the change.

Almost every time I copy and paste in an elevation view the item goes to the wrong floor (in my opinion).
-
So let me get this straight. You are having a hard time finding accurate information to knock off an iconic (copyrighted) design? That is so unfair!
-
Change the main layer to only the outside material as shown and the stucco goes up. I tried the block layer but that did not work. I would have thought the block layer would be the correct main layer but not according the CA.

Thanks Joe. I was missing that check box. I was looking on the label tab and missed it on the first tab.

This is a nice to fair hack but I actually use plants in my drawings. I would need to remove all plants from my construction documents to get the schedule to work with only the notes items. Or, is there another way to filter out the plants from the schedule other than by floor?

Thanks Joe. The stretch plane is the charm. Now if we could just have word wrap or less to say.
