  1. Use a section view elevation camera and measure the result.
  2. You can also move the rafters and correct the framing after it is auto built by CA.
  3. It is a split level house so that may be the variation. It also may be bad math on my part.
  4. I usually am able to just use 2 files but have used 3 as described. If the demo file is extensive it is much easier as a distinct file so I can just have a demo wall style.
  5. Here is the data table I use for Carmel. Mine vary by jurisdiction as some are seeking FAR and some are not.
  6. If it is a detached garage just put the walls and roof on distinct layers and hide them. You don't have to hide a room if you hide the walls.

Hello Gerry, If you are going to do an online meeting as a Ruby primer I would love to be included in the meeting. I am just a novice (or pre novice) and would like to get an idea for a starting point. My programming in the past has been done through a lot of cut and paste when I was working on MEL scripting code using Alias MAYA. MEL is their unique code that is mostly C++ based. Thanks Alan
  8. Prefs for select walls before room (image one) You need to adjust the color of the grout lines for your brick. They are most likely currently white mortar lines. When you send an elevation in vector view you are losing the color (red) for the brick and only showing the grout lines in white which are disappearing in your white background. (Image 2)
  9. Did you use the material painter tool on that wall? Check the materials for the wall in the DBX.
  10. If you have not figured this out by tomorrow morning, PM me at alan@lehmandesignstudio.com and I will walk you through it with a quick (I can set you straight in about 2 minutes) online meeting.
  11. Draw the pyramid in plan view. Shoot an elevation view and rotate.
  12. The particular line you want to set is object specific in nature. If you want this you will need to save out some cameras to your template plan file. But, if it is the wall elevation camera, no go as you can not copy and paste cameras.
  13. Select the camera in plan view and open the object DBX.
  14. I am not having that with either Line Drawing or Watercolor with Line drawing. Just to let you know. Therefore, I don't think it is the update unless it is something that changed in your defaults with the update that cleared a setting that was getting your system to work previously.
  15. Susan, you can not send a layout file without the .plan files. In order to share a full layout, make a new folder "Sulpher full back up" and then go to file-> back up entire plan. This will make a monster file with all the associated layouts. Then you will most likely need to upload that to a drop box folder or similar.
  16. If you are in a camera move mode and click drag with the mouse this will always happen. Is this happening just by moving the cursor?
  17. Look for Beade Insert.... in a folder
  18. Although there are often several good or bad ways to do most things, I think in this instance the majority of the people with a lot of time using CA are doing it the same. Have a sheet of details make that a distinct plan that is sent to layout on it's own. Less weight in the main plan file and easy to use on the next project with modifications since some of those details will be standard details (ie: hand rail grab section...) If you only have one or two details to add to a page do that directly from your library to your plan file. I sometimes just place that detail off screen of the plan view.
  19. What is the door configuration? Is it one pair and one single on the left? At least for the pair you can make one door not swing in the DBX. I have not done this but if the other fixed door was a symbol could it be set up so it does not have swing indicators?
  20. You did not attach the file. Look closely at the upload dealybob. First you swing your partner round and round, then you dod si doe.
  21. The layer to look for is "Roof Planes". Which camera did you select? Are you using the floor overview? Floor overview excludes the roof.
  22. See my post in this thread and upload that plan file: https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/4609-cant-see-roof-in-3d/
  23. Attach your plan file. It is difficult to say what your issue is without seeing your plan. Or, are you displaying the Roof Planes layer? When you go to attach your plan, close the file in CA before attaching. Also, after you browse for the file it is not yet uploaded. The actual upload requires a second button that will be apparent after you see the dialogue button. In the post options to the right and below where I am now typing you will see "More Reply Options". You want more.
