Randy, you use the break tool (hot key 3) at the critical points and then join the roofs (hot key 2) with the join tool. When I do this I work in plan view. Study the roof plan in plan view with his fix and you can see how to make these types of roof configurations work.

I place a north arrow and sun angle. Adjust the time of day/year on the sun to get the vertical angle. Rotate the north arrow to change the direction. I almost always cheat the sun to get good shadows to help show three dimensionality with little regard for reality. I am crazy like that.

One thing to do is to change the room type for you 2nd floor deck to a balcony.

1.Post your plan (and layout) file. 2. Are you printing to PDF or direct? 3. What are your print settings? DPI?

Your layout pages are dogs for me too. I sent your plan to layout and duplicated similar to your layout pages and I have no problem. See image for my send to layout settings. I would just delete your layout boxes and try again as something went wrong. Did you do any scaling of the layout box? Rotate the layout boxes?

I misread the text. It calls out the greater than 3/8 variation for tread. I had thought it was calling out the riser.

The code snippet calls out the irregular shaped winders not needing to be within 3/8" vertically of the other stairs. How does that make sense?

In order to accurately represent that stringer element I would probably make use of solid subtraction. Completely doable within CA.

You can usually get these from the window and door manufacturers websites.

The way I do this is to make a polyline of the lower floor outline. This is the building outline which can be copied and pasted in place to the upper level. An easy way to do this is with the Room Polyline tool.

Is anyone noticing files opening faster in Windows 10. Maybe it is my head cold and everything else is moving slower?

I like this feature. The task bar has an indicator under the items that are currently open.

It keeps files and even the desktop icons. No reinstall of existing programs although I have only started up CA and Firefox so far.

I was out of my office all day. I spent about 20 mins in the morning getting the install downloaded and started. Walked away all day and finished up in about 15 mins when I returned. I did not customize any settings yet.

Don't wait. Download it and go. I just did a web search for windows 10 and what to do and there was a link. X7 is up and running. Some fudging to get my second monitor to be recognized but that was all (so far).

In your first post, is that a raytrace?

This is how it opened for me. The only thing that did not come through was your backdrop image. I am not sure if there is some way that the backdrop is creating the dark image.

If you double your RAM and get the 980 card are you still under your max. price? I have an SSD but I really don't know if I am noticing the performance boost it gives me.

check your ambience? Also, do you have a sun in the scene?

This is really easy to do within CA. Just make a rectangular prism the shape measuring the wide area at the base. Now go to an elevation view and draw another rectangular prism to use as a cutting block. Follow the bouncing pics. 1. Make your shape and size 2. Make your cutting shape in an elevation view 3. Mirror your shape 4. Make your shapes into solids for the subtraction process. 5. Cut with the solid subtraction tool 6. Rinse, repeat.

Post your plan file. Without your plan file it is mostly wild guesses. Also, you complete specs on your computer may reveal something.
