  1. Is this something I should be worried about? I have an RTX 3080 card but Ambient Occlusion is not available in CA?
  2. Full information. File that started in x12 and is nearly complete in DD. Not a very large project (1600 s.f. plus a detached garage). Crash 1 happened with a pbr camera open and I touched a section of attic wall. I got a message about the video something and it will be shutting down. Crash 2, in camera view (I think it was technical illustration) and I duplicated a poly solid to copy and paste in place, no warning it just vaporized. If anything is repeatable I will send it in but there is not reason to yet.
  3. If you have updated to the release version of X13, have you done a PBR with RT and line overlay? I noticed that the line overlay in the beta version at line thickness 3 was still fine and crisp. Now at 3 it looks like a conte crayon after a fifth of Vodka.
  4. The danger with the general note "V.I.F." is that the general notes are where the donut is placed when reading the drawings. Put the critical info where it is going to be read.
  5. I measure interior walls. And same as you, I try to shoot long distances with the laser to get overall dimensions so I can check that against my wall thickness determined measurements of a series of rooms. There will be a few areas on the outside that need a measurement to help with the start of the drawing. Then, this varies based on the who I am on a job. If I am a the general contractor, I can draw without a high level of CYA since I will be on the job site. If I am a building designer and someone else is going to build. Almost every string of dimensions has a "V.I.F." in the string.
  6. I am not commenting on this thread until you change the title of the question to something more family friendly.
  7. Thanks for posting this guide. If you are working in California please note that some of the information in this guide is not correct for California residential code. Where it calls out for 21" clear in front of the toilets, California code calls for 24" for a 30" wide zone.
  8. I do not show the terrain in elevation views since you tend to get what you are seeing (or worse most of the time). I draw that with CAD lines or a polyline box that I shape to the line and then fill to mask what I want to mask.
  9. In that view, look at ALDO and check which layers are locked.
  10. @jasonN, the red line is for an existing grade line.
  11. My set up is almost automatic. I have a hot key called "Delete Facebook off your phone and get back to work". Yeah, cad lines brought forward. That way I don't have to get my foundation correct. Big time saver in doing things "good enough for camera".
  12. Uhhh, why? There is not one spot where it aligns. Any ideas on how to get this to look better? OOB beige standing seam texture from CA.
  13. Assuming you are using Premiere version: 1. Draw a manual roof plane along the exterior line of the long wall of the short bump out. 2. Select the big roof plane DBX and highlight and copy the number of the "Fascia Top Hight", then close that DBX 3. Select the new little roof plane DBX and then change the pitch to 3" click the lock, then paste the number you copied to the ridge and hit enter.
  14. Check out Kebony. Darker in color but has some very good properties that make for a long lasting material. https://us.kebony.com/
  15. It is one of the t.v.'s from the library. I tried first with the screen material in the symbol but it glowed out even more. That is why I placed a polysolid in front of the screen and made it super thin.
  16. @Casey, when you have a bunch of clowns, you're gonna' have a circus. Maybe next time you would prefer "No."? I was talking with a contractor last night about the changes in how education happened in the past vs. today. about 30 years ago you would have more journeyman level carpenters on a job site so there was a natural education process on a daily basis. Now, based on chasing money, there are fewer experienced carpenters and therefore they don't have the time and bandwidth to teach as the work progresses. Therefore, the uneducated stay uneducated. If you can not hire good people, make good people out of the people you have.
  17. We are getting closer to a parametric board and batt solution but not quite yet. X13 wall with framing on the outside.
  18. x12, emmisivity set at 50 Looks similar in Standard view. My problem with this is the edges bleed a lot of light. I made the screen about 1/8" thick to try and eliminate the glow but that does not work.
  19. I set all of my Text to Arial. I used to use MyHand2 but the usage of those hand drawn fonts have seen their days. I like the clarity of Arial and can print smaller with more clarity using Arial. It does look like your font (O.P.) is somewhat condensed which could be leading to the issue. But, the big take away for me is to avoid dimensions that end in 1.25".
  20. I am using it for some presentations. I am really close to finishing a few projects so I want to keep them in x12. So far, I have not seen any issues with something I brought in for a render but still cautious. On the rendering side, I am super happy.
  21. When it was crashing I was in a perspective camera view and then brought up the dbx. I just reopened and was in a plan view and then opened the dbx and it was good to go.
