  1. What you might try, to see if it works for you, is to delete the finish floor material in the Floor 1 defaults. Then re-build (and set to auto-rebuild) the foundation, and the finish should disappear. But then you will have to manually add the finish to Floor 1 and any other additional floors. The finish floor of "Floor 0" (which can be set to "auto re-build") actually follows the directive of the Floor 1(which does not "auto-rebuild") floor finish.
  2. Are we sure the wall didn't create the doors while no one was looking?
  3. A lot of work that needs to be done, but the existing barn is in the way. Mick's suggestion is best.
  4. It's probably just a fluke, but every time I tried to do anything to the wall between the Master Bedroom and the chimney > crash and burn. I deleted that wall and rebuilt and all seemed right again. Worth looking at all the interior walls in that location, or maybe even deleting them all and re-doing.
  5. I would try to get the survey PDF out of the picture, maybe. I gave up on including PDFs in plan files because of slow down issues. Also, the SUV parked at the door.
  6. A lot of builders think from the foundation up because that's what gets done first, but the building drives what happens with the foundation so it's probably better to just go with Chief's flow.
  7. How about a small "transition" room (similar to a breezeway), and then a separate roof altogether.
  8. The elephant in the living room may be "insurance". I can't imagine operating at any level in the construction industry without liability and/or error and omissions insurance, and it's my understanding that if you don't have a "stamp" (registered, licensed architect), then the insurance companies will not cover you for any aspect of construction design, even if the plans are stamped by an engineer. That may vary from state to state, but I would check with your insurance agent before doing anything. Obviously, if you're "drafting" for a licensed architect and it's under HIS/HER roof, then it's a different matter.
  9. I love it. How do you do that?
  10. I'm afraid that seems to be true. Very discouraging, since all has been pretty good for quite some time.
  11. The apparent absence of wall bracing in the original construction. Other than that, pretty standard stuff.
  12. This really is an exciting new capability, so we hope they'll iron it out. What I've done is switch the roles. Do the main plan in glass and reference the other plan in "Standard". That way the glass house part looks better. (What they did in your third image.) Not optimal, but........
  13. Hi Diane, Have you tried, in Layout, Tools>Layout>Referenced File Plans?
  14. The default label "Wall Layer 4 - Viewed From Outside" will return the next time you "re-frame", no matter what you do. Another "unsolvable".
  15. Can you create a brick foundation wall on level 0, and then cut and paste onto level 1? You would have to turn off automatic rebuild foundation, but it should work.
  16. With the Layout sheet open, in the main menu. go to View>Color. Make sure it's checked. Also "F8" keystroke should work.
  17. Maybe an over-simplification, but in general, use a floating dormer when it will "sit" on the roof instead of on walls underneath the roofline.
  18. You could add a relevant "comment" (such as OX or XO) in the Window "Object Information" dbx, and make sure "Comments" are included in the schedule That should separate the ones in question.
  19. In Active Layer Display, unlock Roofs, Ridge Caps, and then delete.
  20. Thanks, Chris. Very good to know!
