  1. can't you just make one from a cabinet and add it to a library? Am I missing something?
  2. I see it in my copy. Mathes porch plan1.
  3. Mark - good post. Why are there some many questions? Because there are so many ANSWERS! ;o)
  4. Here is the plan. I tried putting a doorway in the wall at the bottom of the steps but that did not help. Of course I can do a walkthrough/flyby and avoid the steps but I am interested in seeing if there is a solution to this problem. I dod a quick test going from the LR area onto the deck and that went fine although last year I had a problem doing that on another project. The camera just dropped and then recovered. Mathes.zip
  5. Used anyvideoconverter and it solved the problem. Next item: Doing a walk though and because I need to make a room for the flared stairs to generate I get a drop off of light and a big bump on entering the "room" for the stairs. Another bump on leaving the room and then normal light again. Kind of ruins the whole effect. I remember from last year I also had a problem when I went from a house to the deck. The camera dropped radically on the transition. I guess it has something to do with interior versus exterior and the terrain. IT recovers but is a pain!! ANy suggestions? CA?
  6. Alan - get anyvideo converter. IT is free and can convert to many formats. I am using it to overcome a problem I am having with a skewed image I get when using that codec an trying to open in Microsoft Movie Maker.. After creating the avi I open anyvideo converter and add the file and convert to mpg4. I can then open it in movie maker and make adjustments like increasing or decreasing the speed of the walk through.
  7. Here is a video of the process using a cabinet with door panels that can be quickly changed to any style. Make the cabinet back match the front. Please excuse the 2 seconds of noise at the beginning. My mic is messed up and I could not find the mute button quickly enough. <a href="http://www.screencast.com/t/kShMNwcc3e">2015-02-05_1641</a>
  8. I think because there are so many areas in chief where things get set, done etc. with many varied approaches it can be frustrating trying to track them down when someone with knowledge can provide an answer in minutes thus saving someone hours possibly. Plus many users use the program differently and only come across certain needs occasionally where others may use a function or feature daily. I do think others should try to find the answer first but alas some will not. One thing for sure - this forum is an extremely valuable resource thanks to many like yourself that share.
  9. Tommy - the gift that keeps on giving! ;o)
  10. The nice thing about the cabinet is you can just change the panel/door style and they all change and then do another convert to symbol. But whatever works! I did not include the stretch planes but should have.
  11. Joe - did you use a cabinet? I did these prior to your posting but got tied up on a call. THe glass can be made solid on the one. cabinet with back matches front 10 panel door.calibz 10 panel raised.calibz
  12. print layout to PDF and email
  13. I have been working on walkthroughs recently on an exterior project basically using an arc as the path. I just downloaded and installed the xvid codec and have a problem on the first walkthrough I have done using it. See attached.. Main preview pane is screwed up. THe other panes look fine. It plays fine in Windows media player but this is what I get in movie maker. Others I have done in movie maker are all fine. Could it be the codec? IF so why only in movie maker and not media player as they are both Microsoft? The only other difference is that I converted the arc to a spline and made some adjustments. I will have to play with some settings to see what is causing this. THe whole movie has that skewed look.
  14. Didn't we have some kind of problem like this with X6 when released that was subsequently fixed?
  15. you should post the plan in a zip file or provide a link to dropbox or similar. Also, video card is important. without the plan and more information you cannot expect any help because there is just not enough information.

  17. Bob - also if you have a problem with the material running correctly on the edge but not the top you can make the slab a solid and explode it and you will have individual surfaces. Then make a copy of the material and change orientation 90 degrees . You can then convert back to symbol if needed.
  18. Just a note - their metals are really colors with properties, not material textures. That is why you don't see anything in a standard render.
  19. That light bleed is a real PITA. You can get rif of it if you unselect photon mapping. Sometimes a 2nd floor or roof will help as Perry suggested.
  20. That particular SS will not show in a render view but should show in ray trace. You could also use a texture like the one attached just make a material out of it and apply to the fridge or whatever.
  21. yes, but what I meant is you can't set several scenes to ray trace as part of one session, right? You have to start them each individually.
  22. tried everything I could think of and no go. It will have to be a custom window as far as I can see. Archijeff is good at that if you can find an old post in the old forum.
  23. I don;t think you can que them up but I think you can do more than one at a time. Agree with David that usually with X6-7 max I do is about 30-45 minutes. Often less depending on what I am doing.
