Irc 501.3 (I-Joists To Be Sheetrocked)
Dennis_Gavin replied to Jay_on_Cape's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
When does the homeowner/taxpayer get to decide what to spend THEIR money on? Maybe they feel a sprinkler system is worth it. Great, buy one. IF things make sense most people will do it and not have to be forced into it. Low e windows entered the market years ago and were embraced and soon became standard sooner than the manufacturers anticipated. They seemed to make sense and the price increase was not that much. Heat lamps put on one side of both a low e and non-low e unit demonstrated how effective they were. No regulation was needed. -
How To Draw A Wall That Has The Lower Part Removed Under Stairs?
Dennis_Gavin replied to para-CAD's topic in General Q & A
David - that is not what he wants. He wants the wall on the upper area and not below the stairs. At least that is my take. Select wall and drag the corners up as needed. Insert line breaks to shape to fir conditions. Select no room definition to remove footprint on floor. Is this what you want? -
The Cabinet Electrical Outlet Challenge.....
Dennis_Gavin replied to dshall's topic in General Q & A
I'm thinking the amount of time spent on this post would allow for the manual fix of the outlet for the next 10 years. ;o) Yeah, it should work but........ -

Jay - most places around here want sprinkler systems in new construction. I am sure some people would be happy just to be able to afford a house, period! Pretty soon we will have the safest most energy efficient houses that most cannot afford! -

Blah, Blah, Blah yourself. Should we create a world where EVERYTHING is regulated and nobody ever gets hurt? I don't think so. There is always going to be situations where you can say BUT IF THIS were done that would not have happened. There is no end to it. How about all masonry houses? Oh wait , that is where we started, in caves!..... -

I think we are getting to the point where ALL designers/contractors and homeowners need to push back on this out of control government. There is no end to what they feel needs to be done to "save lives" because in their attempt to save lives they are killing us! How did we all manage to survive to our 50's,60's,70's etc. without their putting their noses into every gosh darn thing that we do. Are we men or sheeple?? My .02 for the end of the weak! pun intended..... -

Creating the light fixture is not a big deal. Accurately creating the effect of the working light is another story. I od not believe can do anything more than create what you think it might look like. There are no settings that I know of that when applied will represent the specifications you mention.

That color is a little much for me but my granddaughter would LOVE IT!

Joey - IF that house is historical, then I'm Peter Pan. They have GOT to be kidding!
My house was built in stages through MANY years. Original around 1740, Trinity style,
(forged nails) then additions in the 1800's machined mails, then a large part in 1972
and a sun room I added in 1986. Thank God it was never put on the historical register.
IN this area I think you have to be able to see the juncture of historical versus non when
adding on. Not sure what other things are required and don't want to know.
We also hang our laundry out for solar and wind drying which I bet all the advocates for
alternative energy could not handle. Preserve me from all those busy bodies who want to
run other peoples lives.

Very well done. What were you using prior to X5?
It would be even easier in V6 or 7.

Graham, Are you able to get the effect you want when using spots instead of point lights? I could see maybe using a 3D point light in conjunction with 3 pendants over an island with 3D light to make up the upward light Never played with lighting with that kind of an approach in mind. Do you have some set approaches that you use to create the right effect while limiting the number of point lights?

OK, here I go again. I cannot locate the symbols in my library. Is it coming in under a name different than that listed on the file? This happens too often. I also get a message that the file had been imported but none of the items from the imported library could be read by this version? I am up to date. OK, just checked my version and this (and some other) error messages have pooped up.
