Just had a look at a bunch of files, mine go up to about 35Mb. (400 sqm duplex, 2 story ) However I don't put cars in, I try and use minimal very simple furniture and had recently done a series of purges. Also I don't use cad details, I do these in separate files.

Does the refresh button work?

No, but it is really easy to make them in the wall definition.

You should not lose any library's with an upgrade, it should not affect the previous installation. But sometimes not all library's migrate. open the previous version and see if you have it there, just in-case you have deleted it by accident

I made a separate drive labeled F: all library's and files go in this drive using exactly the same directory structure. this way the plan file or layout does not know which computer it is being worked on as on all three computers . I work alone but use different computers at different times, so slightly different from you. But essentially you need each link in the layout file to be constant. As for different designers as long as they follow strict naming protocols it should be no problem. As a CAD manager in a previous life I was responsible for offices in 3 countries and we adopted a similar system, just so we could all find the files quickly, our files had a code for office and date so we would open and save as then start working. I hope this provokes some thoughts.

Richard remember standard building practice varies greatly around the world. I looked at a couple of the details and at a quick glance they could be used in New Zealand, but I think they would need substantial changes to meet codes as I understand them for you guys.

Run both CA Premier and old CA version 10.8 on same computer

You cannot open a file in a previous version full stop. I would completely ditch the 10.08a version you are wasting your time if you have X12. 10.08a was a good version but even the simple features in that version work better in X12, I am not even sure that 10.08a even runs properly in win10. -
Follow the cord to the wall, there should be a switch at the plug

Edit area all floors

Look at your wall settings, specifically build foundation to. but familiarize yourself with all wall settings. the F1 key can be a godsend when having these basic problems

Back then I remember having to place additional internal walls across the windows, had to use 2 plan files 1 for the elevations and 1 for everything else.

Either chris's idea or possibly a locked layer?

With an NDA nobody can actually say whether it has started or not. In years previous it is usually starting in december

I don't do mac but just throwing something out there as you said it just started, and I am not aware of a CA update, but could it possibly be caused by an apple update??. can you roll back the operating system to an earlier date? does this solve it? If it just started, what has changed on your system? anything at all? It appears Michael has had it for a while so what have you guys got in common if CA can't see it. I had 20 years as an engineering trouble shooter and find it helps to pinpoint a common occurrence if possible. But it may just be that CA dont have it right for the mac as there seem to be a few bugs that don't seem to appear on windows machines. Best of luck solving it.

Change your default settings under framing, if you only use 2x10 just put 2x10 in each of the four ? boxes

Vertical side of Trey Ceiling not showing
Kiwideziner replied to cjanderson66's topic in General Q & A
I had that a couple of months ago, was in a hurry so just did cad work on the xsect to cover it up. Was meaning to get to the bottom of it but have not had time, probably should have sent to CA as it seemed like a bug. -
Also research saved plan views.

yes always regular saves. And after a complex roof as an example is complete I will do a save and then a save as also just so it is easy to go back.
-
I dont use the plan database, but I always save a thumbnail of the plans so that searching in CA is quicker especially for detail plan files.
-
What is it that you cannot do SPECIFICALLY that other programs can do. I agree that some things could be made easier, but other things in other programs are more difficult. CA needs specifics or they get it wrong.

Found this on a simple search Is it tray or trey ceiling? I've got a hunch how — at least in some people's minds — “tray” ceiling became “trey”: “très” is French for “very” (as in “very beautiful”). ... However, the correct adjective for a recessed ceiling — often directly over a bed or Dining Room table, and marked with dramatic, custom moldings — is “tray.”Sep 30, 2016 Surely CA would do a search to get the correct term where possible. In Building there are a lot of regional variations so I normally just go with it.

Post the plan. there is an invisible wall there it is still showing the skirting
