  1. Yes Adobe may look like that but it prints ok for me, and creates a much much smaller file and when you have a 25 page set , that makes a huge difference.
  2. too many default places, Chief please narrow it down to one place. I may have missed it ,but there are also places in the framing DBX. just too many default places.
  3. I believe most of the USA will experience more regulation in every aspect of plan check and construction ,like we have experienced here in California for 20 years, at least. Most of our country has been far behind, and a lot of people will need to catch up. I'm amazed by the states that still require no framing plans or shear walls or energy calc's or engineering or anything about Green buildings , and some still need no plans whatsoever. What is good about all that is that people will need to hire you to do it, b/c it's just too much for a lot of people to handle.
  4. Anyone around that long should at least get a Chicken dinner
  5. I remember seeing Dan's serial # of like 64.
  6. Dan Bauman of Chiefexperts says he started with version 1
  7. you could just use the room finish schedule to get a square footage if you want
  8. I have used "Eset" forever and it pick up everything including what Graham said. Never had any virus's for 10 years
  9. I used Softplan until 2005 when I saw Chief and jumped on it. For me it seemed so mush easier to get it done, by far.
  10. HERE IS A SMALL SAMPLE OF SOME PRE-DEFINED DETAILS, WITHIN Chief ,THAT CAN BE CHANGED HOWEVER YOU WANT..
  11. Grab an anchor bolt from the Simpson lib. place it where you want than use multiple copy and set the spacing and copy.
  12. Unfortunately you have to do it manually, I use a note for that.
  13. I would say , move something else to the other drive. You can move just the data file to another drive without a problem if you want
  14. Funny thing, I'm not having that problem using the latest NVidia drivers.
  15. Yes and have known ,how to, forever, it is a fact, for many years, that this problem has caused many people ,PROBLEMS, that they didn't know how to fix. There should be an easier way. I'll bet Chief also gets a lot of calls about this.
  16. What are your computer spec's?
  17. IMO, room planner just isn't ready for this kind of detailed work yet, it good for some people though, like homeowners who want to layout their homes.
  18. I'm not talking about painting an interior wall color, I'm talking about painting an exterior surface material, it's been nothing but trouble for a lot of people here for every version I've ever seen. Most people don't know how to get it to change back.
  19. Again try not to use the spray can on exterior finish, Just build the correct wall type, you will find you have less headache like the one you are having now.
  20. There is, just change the material to default and create a new wall with the correct material, I never paint walls.
  21. I do a lot of remodeling and have created about 30 different walls for all the different conditions you could run into. These walls are in my template plan so I don't have to create new walls for every job. Sometimes I also have to create more, it depends on the project. Create a new and existing wall for every type of wall you might use. One trick is to use the same exterior surface for the new and existing walls so you won't create a line in vector views, where the two different walls meet. I know that will not be good for the material list but looks better on the plan. New stucco and existing stucco just didn't work for me. I just don't want that pesky line.
  22. I also only keep a couple of the latest versions on the C-drive, but I keep all the old data folders , and job folders ,on my 4tb backup drive. You never know when an old client might call for more work,. and it has happened a lot ,or you might work on a neighbor's house with the same floor plan. I find that older plans are easily brought forward to a new version with minor mods. I never go back and actually use the older versions. Oh, also backup everything to Carbonite for extra protection even though I have never had to use it.
