  1. I see shadows there, they just need to be darkened a bit.
  2. Ok, sorry about that , I thought he meant window and door labels, but it's still easy to just turn off layout box labels in the layout layerset
  3. I really don't want to have to keep track of every minute I spend on a Job, Win some lose some ,so I use the total job method, (PSF). How much varies greatly per your location and skill. I only get a retainer for only for clients I don't already know. Long time clients I just bill at the end of the job. Never not been paid for over 40 years now. I.ve been lucky that way or maybe it's that I'm 6-'7" and scare the heck out of them.
  4. Why , Change layer sets and the label is gone, is that not automatic
  5. It's easy, just create a new layer-set for specifically sending to the layout with that label layer turned off.
  6. Maybe turn on automatic framing for everything
  7. Looks like the automatic light Chief puts in when no lights are present, just add a light and it should go away.
  8. I don't think there is a lot of help b/c it requires a different program that a lot of people just don't have to help you along. You will just have to figure it out yourself I guess.
  9. You got that right, even within each city , each plan checker wants different things, there is no standard. I once had a plan checker in Long Beach Ca, mark the heck of one of my pans b/c she wanted me to change the page layout to her liking, Well, I went to the city manager and next thing I know plan was approved without any changes. Never had any problems with her again. Sometimes you need to speak up on things like that and go to a higher source.
  10. I find that having to deal with 50 different cities, there is no way of covering that in one template, so I just keep it simple and adjust per city requirements. And no 2 cities are alike, they each have their own notes they need.
  11. I think Joe wanted to be able to select doorways in 3d that don't have any casing. Can't do it unless the doorway has casing. Did they fix that?
  12. thanks for that in depth study , thousands of layers, no wonder your head is spinning, mine just blew up. I have been using Joe's method for a few years now, very similar .

    Help

Just put in a curved ceiling plane then when you install a truss manually, the bottom cord will follow the ceiling plane. real simple and easy to do.
  14. I'm sure Scott would do a seminar online if we had someone that does landscape plans to lead the discussion. I don't know of anyone here, even Chief has no video's on the subject.. Chief does have the tools for it.
  15. If it were me, I'd just bite the bullet and get a new computer so all the parts work together correctly. Piece upgrading could cause choke points. If this is your business, sometimes it just cost some money to be in business.
  16. I think it all boils down to employee vs independent contractor. If you were an Employee you lose the argument
  17. Chief doesn't address this at all, for me it's all manually put on the drawings. It sure would be nice for some kind of automation.
  18. Dave has many many video's that are top notch, thanks Buddy
  19. So far I have just been dictating using dragon directly into a Chief text box. those code requirements, it's not copying but no one cares about it being exact.
  20. everyone usually creates their own, I have never seen one that I want to use, you can start with one chief provides and modify. I have seen some very nice layout templates ( Joe Carrick) with many macro's that generate automatically,
