  1. Joe's an Architect? he is so nice you wouldn't think so.
  2. You can start out using the defaults. When you click on each line, you will see a green logo thing, and that would be the recommended setting. Try those at first, then you can play around with it trying different settings. You can always go beck to the recommended settings if you need to.
  3. I can see in your pic that the ridge's at the gable end's are not aligned exactly, they are offset from each other just a little bit. Try to align the roof planes with an exact dim.
  4. Scott, I think it could be an Apple thing, I saw the walls in a P.C.
  5. Not knowing how your Apple or anti-virus works, I would think the anti-virus would put it in some kind of " Quarantine " and from there you can delete it. That's how mine (E-Set) works
  6. sorry about that If you want the walls on the second floor to go past the roof then just cut the roof plane around the box out. if you want the walls to stop at the roof ,use the "Roof cuts wall at bottom" tool, of course this is the manual way.
  7. You cant mix Chief with a trailer symbol unless you have mucho expertise.
  8. Set it up to use a text style in the layers to easily change the text size.
  9. I did a bump out on the 1st floor. you'll see how I did it. as for the underneath area , you'll need a p-solid to cover it. Box Window fix.plan
  10. Try to make your rendering as large on the monitor as you can, (fill screen) before sending. Also set your video card to the highest resolution possible.
  11. Chief works using rooms, I'm not sure what you have, but using Chief you need to create rooms and the ceiling height dictates how high the walls are.
  12. Yes why not just copy the stairs layer, and call it stairs cad
  13. Really Johnny, two different things. Design and final working drawings are different, most people have no idea how to do the structural or get it thru plan check, although in some parts of the country, you don't need much to get it through plan check. I always appreciate when people give me their idea's, I can take it from there and make it right without compromising their plan to much.
  14. Thanks Joe, again spell check, I should read these before sending
  15. I think the lady was talking about her home, and I'm sure anyone can design that. Weather its good or not is to be determined. That was a correct statement
  16. When you block anything , you also need to set the layer you want b/c just blocking it will put it on the default cad layer.
  17. No one is, Yusuf. Good design is good design, no matter who does It, and who see's it. Everyone applies the best knowledge they can, some good some not so good. the marketplace will determine. Certainly not someone on this forum.
  18. Joe , most people have no idea what Architect means, I have had to correct many. Most people call me an Architect not knowing. I do explain the difference to them.
  19. I also learned Architecture in college, good design is really what you make it. What you did learn is good design, as decided by your teacher. And I don't think I'm missing any point. When I hire someone to do drafting for me , I want it done my way. I also know what good proportion is, but it might not be what you think. That is why I try to come up with something that pleases everyone that works.
  20. I disagree, you can't possibly be the only one who decides good design, the eye of the beholder could be another Architect or designer for sure. Never seen any of your work, i'll bet I could pick it to pieces, just like anyone could. Of course you try to discourage something that doesn't work. Maybe try to make it work, that's your job. What if someone really dislikes your design? Do you make it work, or say its my way or the highway?
