  1. Joe , most people have no idea what Architect means, I have had to correct many. Most people call me an Architect not knowing. I do explain the difference to them.
  2. I also learned Architecture in college, good design is really what you make it. What you did learn is good design, as decided by your teacher. And I don't think I'm missing any point. When I hire someone to do drafting for me , I want it done my way. I also know what good proportion is, but it might not be what you think. That is why I try to come up with something that pleases everyone that works.
  3. I disagree, you can't possibly be the only one who decides good design, the eye of the beholder could be another Architect or designer for sure. Never seen any of your work, i'll bet I could pick it to pieces, just like anyone could. Of course you try to discourage something that doesn't work. Maybe try to make it work, that's your job. What if someone really dislikes your design? Do you make it work, or say its my way or the highway?
  4. I was just looking at your plan ( photo) which doesn't have any windows in it. So it would be obvious to place a wall break there to accommodate for the siding. Much easier.
  5. You guys are just dreaming up things that almost never happens. Of course, there are some designs that can never should be done. but your ego's are just nuts. I would never hire an Architect with that attitude. This thread has become, you guys strutting around like your some kind of god. Face the fact ,you are not the only ones that can design, weather the design is good or not is in the eye of the beholder. It's kind of like me saying your designs stink, having never seen any. Get real, your license really doesn't mean crap unless you have some talent. You'll starve to death. There is nothing wrong to design within a budget and not do what I would like to see b/c I'm god. You'll get more clients that way.
  6. Yes but if you have a window in the middle of a wall break, you are going to rebuild the whole wall anyway. I'd show it as it really is. Your doing it the hard way.
  7. I never have that problem-ever, so there must be something else wrong with the plan. I break walls all the time without losing room def.
  8. If you want to adjust the walls of a bay just build it using walls instead of using an auto bay window.
  9. the height needs to be higher than 0" for it to be blank at the windows, so it crosses them.
  10. Did you convert the p-line to a molding p-line. It also shows some of the lines inside the wall and not on the face of the drywall.
  11. I just break the wall and change it to match the front, you can break it exactly where you want it.
  12. Wow , that one big ego. How could you possibly know what experience or schooling anyone here has or doesn't have, or even professional license's one has. You assume a lot.
  13. so simple it's overlooked, but posting the plan solved it.
  14. Check out Scott's answer to your question. Post it so we can look at it.
  15. Never done a DIY project, not sure what you mean. Do it yourself doesn't have anything to do with design.
  16. Try playing around with the "EDIT WALL INTERSECTION TOOL"
  17. If any of you remember, back years ago here in Calif. the Architectural license board decided to Grandfather all building designers to full Architect status, without having to take any test, it was automatic, I didn't at that time b/c I wasn't a member of the building designers group which involved a yearly fee. Forgot what it was called. I thought it was a waste of money at the time. I did have a lot of friends that did get Grandfathered, what a mistake that was, Some of them had to hire plans out b/c they couldn't do it.
  18. As it is, I also have to re-do a lot of Architect plans as they are just too expensive and the client has wasted thousands of dollars on something they couldn't use.
