Yes, I did mine in X13

More like this? Or....there is a way of creating a custom shaped wall opening (not a door). Have a look in the help file for Edit Wall Cutout Polyline. You can attach a custom shaped Wall Cutout Polyline to a symbol (by using Inserts Into Wall) and then hide the symbol so that it is not visible. Here is a very quick freehand hole in wall attached to an espresso machine.

Yusuf, You just beat me to it. I had it figured out by using the top rail to build the wall and using the top rail height to drop the bottom of the solid rail down below the stair itself - the top of the solid rail remains at the set height.

Something very strange happening. If I draw the stairs counterclockwise, things aren't too bad and the ends of the treads are curved. BUT, if I draw the stairs clockwise, the inner face of the wall becomes segmented. Looks like a bug to me.

Can you post a cut down plan and i will have a look. That error message about the extents would suggest that you have an object floating out in space somewhere.

There is a Thickness setting for custom stringers. These are thick stringers. You can't use railings while doing the wall editing because you cannot slope the tops and bottoms of railings.

Does this help any:

The problem with using stringers is that they can't be curved, which is causing the faceting of the rail and the straight tread sides. Here is my rough file - I deleted my original file and this is a quickie replacement. I edited the tops and bottoms of the walls in 3D views which can get a bit complicated to select the correct grips. Edit: I think you need to create a room by enclosing the circular wall around the stairs. Winders will only work in an enclosed room. Ah, and I also turned off wall caps as they don't like the curved walls. spiral 1.plan

What I don't like about this method is the faceting of the rail and no curving of the tread sides. Using a normal wall, you can use the Winders setting which gives you a smooth curve for the rail and rounded sides for the treads. With Winders checked: With Winders unchecked:

Not too hard to do with normal curved stairs and curved walls - not stair railings. Select the walls and drag the corner up and down, break the walls, etc, to get them to follow the stairs. The biggest problem with this method is that it is hard to align the bottom of the sloping walls with the lining on the underside of the stairs. But maybe you aren't showing a view from underneath.

Once you have added 20deg to Allowed Angles, you may want to make sure "Always Snap Walls to Allowed Angles" is checked in Preferences>Edit>Snap Properties.

Can Construction Lines be centered to a Masonry Wall?
glennw replied to JuanR2's topic in General Q & A
Or...you can do it without knowing the main layer thickness.. Select the construction line. On the edit Toolbar click on "Click On This And Then On An Object To Center The Selection On An Object". On the edit toolbar click on "Click On This And Then On Two Locations To Center This Object Between". Snap Point A to one side of the main layer and Point B to the other side of the main layer. Click on the screen to finish. -
Iy looks like Chief is trying to build a hip and a valley in the same location and is getting confused. Can you put a step in the side wall?

Have you tried Retain Roof Framing?
-
Is the whole status bar not showing or is the length and angle missing from the status bar?
-
Have a look at your roof framing. I haven't got any more time at the moment to look further. But..if I delete your trusses and/or toggle off auto roof framing, all goes well without any slow down. You seem to have a lot of very small trusses (look in Cad Detail Management). This should get you looking in the correct area.

Software Question: Missing exterior wall framing
glennw replied to AKnightClark's topic in General Q & A
Here is a trouble shooting tip: Group select an object you know is correct and an object of the sam type that is causing problems, ie, 2 walls. Open their dbx and have a look at all the options. All the settings that are the same for the 2 objects will display either the correct value, check mark or name. Those settings that are different for the 2 objects will be either greyed out or have a horizontal check mark. -
Software Question: Missing exterior wall framing
glennw replied to AKnightClark's topic in General Q & A
Uncheck Retain Wall Framing (Structure panel) and then build the framing. I assume you must have checked Retain Wall Framing when there was no framing in the wall. -
Definitely pitch in degrees in oz, not percentage.

Works OK for me. You still need to adjust some other things like the height, etc.

What tool are you using to draw the perimeter? The Input Line tool?
