Perry, I am 100% with you. Once a wall is demolished it is no longer a wall - so why the **** do users want to represent a demolished wall with a wall? I don't get it - use cad - either by using View to Cad or just draw cad lines directly in the plan.

Try these: In your 3D view, go 3D...Lighting...Adjust Lights...toggle off Default Sun. Go 3D...3D View Defaults...Lighting Options...Daytime Ambient...100% In Preferences...Render...uncheck Show Shadows. That should get you closer to what you want, but there is no shadowing and everything looks flat, but that is a consequence of getting what you asked for. You are asking for something that is not "real life".

Open the dbx for the upper floor wall and uncheck Attic Wall.

Use a Room Divider wall to separate the kitchen off and then assign the ceiling finish in the kitchen room's dbx at Structure panel...Ceiling...Ceiling Finish. I would also use the Floor Finish there as well, instead of the Material Region. I would usually only use a Material Region when it covers only part of a room, like a tile inlay, etc.

vs, Although a wall can have several main layers, it can only have one framed layer - even if you nominate more than one framed layer, in which case, the outermost framed layer is the one that gets framed. To do what you want, you will need to use a double wall - ie, 2 separate walls.

Make the changes and then save the light to the library.

Andy, I don't believe that you can change the dimension fill on a per dimension basis. You can change it on a per layer basis as described below in the last line. Otherwise you change it in the Dimension Defaults Go Defaults...Dimensions and select the dimension default you are using (or double click the Dimension icon) and select Edit. Go to the Text Style panel. If you are using a Custom Text Style, go down to Options and check Transparent. If you are using a Text Style select Define...Edit and do the same thing there. If you are using Layer for Text Style, you need to Edit the text style that is associated with that layer.

John, Why are you creating it in every plan? Either save it to the library or copy it from the old plan into the new one.

I don't think you can get boxed eaves at that corner as long as the gable overhangs are the same value. Make sure you have Boxed Eaves toggled on in the Build Roof dbx. Open the dbx for the front gable wall and go to the Roof panel. Increase the Overhang Length by about 3mm (sorry about the metrics) - this is the smallest dimension that works for me. Have a play and see what is the smallest dimension which results in the boxed eave. With Auto Roofs toggled on, you should get a boxed eave on both gable roofs. If you can live with the tiny discrepancy between the gable overhangs this is probably the easiest.

Ah, I see you have X5 - no Room Divider wall. You should be able to use the same technique with a very thin invisible wall.
-
If you mean something like this, I used a short section of perpendicular Room Divider wall at the wall joints. You can then slide the window up to the joint.

Vinnie, It could be anything from a hardware problem to software, to a problem with your model. Try turning off all the auto build settings in Chief. Post your plan here so that someone else can give it a run and see if there is a problem with the plan.

The Discussion for the Room Planner App for IPAD and the other PAD
glennw replied to dshall's topic in General Q & A
d dot, You can't be wrong if I agree with you! And in this case I agree with you. I may as well give you a reputation point. -
You should be able to select the cabinet and change it's type from Angle Front to Left Radius End for the bottom one and Right Radius End for the top one. Your radiused custom counter top then needs adjustment. Is this what you are after?

Are you holding down the Alt key as you drag the end of the stairs around? Looks to me like you are dragging without the Alt key - the Alt+ drag curves the stairs instead of just rotating them. Or, you can select the stair and hold the right button down as you drag from the end of the stair.without using the Alt key.

Ah...Ron, you want the quick way. In that case use the Auto Shadow Line Joint tool which will divide up the panels to the exterior walls in one go.

Jared, 3D...3D View Defaults... Options panel...General Options...Auto Rebuild Walls/Floors/Ceilings

Yup, that's the one.

I did post a while back about using the Wall Material Region to do this. I have tried searching, but can't find the thread. There is a slim chance it may have been on the old forum. From memory, the method used the Wall Material Region with one No Material Layer set to Cut Finish Layers from Parent Object. Your main wall definition should have the outside layer set to the hardi-panel material. The Wall Material Region was then sized to the size of the recessed joints where it then cut away the hardi-panel.

Cait, The bad connections should be indicated by a circle, but you need to be on the correct floor. Have you checked all floors in your plan? You can fix ALL the connections in the plan by going Build...Walls...Fix Wall Connections. The Fix Wall Connections on the Edit toolbar only does one individual connection at a time.

My opinion is that the reputation points thing should be turned of. They are meaningless and of no value. This forum is to foster communication and help other users. I can see no purpose for "reputation" points. It especially erks me when I see users offering help and at the same time touting for reputation points for offering that help. We seemed to get by OK on the old forum without reputation points.

How can I get Chief X6 to view a Room Planner file stored in the Cloud
glennw replied to facer_03's topic in General Q & A
Bill, Room Planner can save to the cloud. Ray, For your client to save to the cloud for you to download it, I guess you need to give him your Chief account details (email and password). Or I guess you can just create a new account. Either way, I think you both need to use the same email address and password. -
That is a threshold line automatically drawn with an external door. The only way I know of removing it would be to have an internal room type built outside the door. That could mean having a room defined with invisible walls, no floor, etc.

Ray, File...Import...Import Room Planner File. Login, select and download. -
I think you two may be talking about different versions. It appears that Jim is using X5 , where the current cad layer displayed in the Layer Display dbx was not tied to that Layer Set - we were able to set the current cad layer in that dbx, but the current cad layer was not tied to that layer set. In X6, the auto detailing goes on the current cad layer, which can be any layer chosen before auto detailing. The Current Cad Layer for that annoset is used unless changed manually, in which case the annoset is changed to "Using Active Defaults" in lieu of the chosen or default annoset.
