Walls are invisible - only windows and lights showing in camera view
glennw replied to jbriarmoon's topic in General Q & A
Posting a plan would help. -
I am not sure of the context in which you want to use this information, but this may help. Open the dbx for the mulled unit >Label>Multiple Components>Show Component Labels or >Show Single Label For Entire Unit. This will determine how the windows are reported in a schedule. ie, Show Component Labels will display the windows as individual units in a schedule. This is a mulled unit using Show Component Labels.

This can be done with 2 wall definitions with one of the walls (the post wall) designated as No Room Definition. I don't know if it would help much as you will still need to go around and locate the posts and studs. In this example I made the post wall thicker than the normal timber frame wall to exaggerate what is happening. I think there are better solutions though.

First off, I think the reason they are not generating is that they are not technically lookouts (or whatever), because that section of roof is not cantilevered out over a wall - it is butting up against a wall - therefore, no lookouts. You should be able to use the Roof Blocking tool to draw them at the roof slope. You will probably have to adjust the size depending on what orientation you require.

Try playing with Preferences>Appearance>Side Window Drag Docking>and Top/Bottom Docking.

Yes, it seems to be caused by the Material Regions along that wall elevation. I can start deleting them and once they are down to a lower number, the diagonal line disappears. I didn't look any further, but why are your material regions extending up so far - they go way up past the roof. This may have some bearing on the problem. Try using solids instead of material regions and see what happens.

Jack, Here is a zip file that contains the symbol and the materials. As you will see, the materials are not hedge materials but are materials like ivy, ground cover, grass... Have a play with the materials definitions to change the appearance - mainly scale. Hedge.zip

Something like this? It is a symbol with various materials that can be edited to achieve the look you want - different material, scale, etc. The symbol can be stretched, resized, etc.

Adding a Portion of Wall Covering to Covered Parking

You could try using a Post to Beam and then increase the size of the Beam.- 2 replies

Try changing the Room Type to something other than Garage. A Garage room type will automatically build kerbs or stem walls.

What am I missing? My iPhone can do a complete spherical pano without a stitching app.
-
Is there any reason why you can't do a hand held (or tripod) Pano with an iPhone and then use the picture as a Spherical Panorama Backdrop?

Is this what you are after: Select the short rail on the top of the deck. Drag the right hand corner down over the long rail. Drag the rail over the lower end of the deck back to the house, Go back up to the top rail and reverse it. Select the long rail and make it Post To Rail. Edit your top rail sizes as desired. Dragging one rail over the others, ensures the rails are all the same.

I think the best way to compare the properties for various objects is to multi select the objects and then open the dbx and go through looking at each property. If the objects have any properties that are different they will be indicated by No Change, or tick boxes will have a horizontal bar in them. This make it very easy to identify and change the properties that don't match - no messing with spreadsheets.

Open the dbx for the long railing at the front. Rail Style panel>Newels/Posts. Check Post To Ceiling.

Gene, I have spent a bit of time going over the posts and playing with the Auto Storey Pole settings. I think the problem could be caused by the absence of a check mark in the Outer column for the Top Of Foundation line. I think there was a post of your dbx which showed this checked though. But,.....in the absence of any other cause, can you go back and make sure that box has a check mark. I think the Inner Dimension locates Top of Foundation automatically, Outer doesn't. It looks like you are only using an Outer Dimension. Have a play with the above in combination with the Inner Dimension setting on the General panel.

Is there a way to put the wall dialog box image in a layout page?
glennw replied to DefinedDesign's topic in General Q & A
Do a screen capture (Shift+4+Command and drag a window) and then Import Picture. Have a look at the various options here: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201361 -
We can almost do a horizontal rafter tail automatically. But we are stuck with that pesky line on the underside of the rafters which is the invisible horizontal soffit meeting the invisible raking soffit.

"plumb horizontal" - ???????? That's a new one on me! It must be regional thing. It must be a tad difficult to do "plumb horizontal" with a plumb bob. I guess you get the apprentice to go down to wallmart and ask for a horizontal plumb bob. Down here in Oz "plumb horizontal" is called level or horizontal.

Yes, I can see the image, but it really doesn't give me any idea about what you are trying to do. I am suggesting that you do not use manual roofs at all - let Chief build auto roofs over the whole building. Post the plan.

Larry, What tools did you use for the driveways? Straight and Spline driveways do not exactly follow the terrain like a Terrain Feature - they modify the terrain so that the road is level across it's width. ie cut and fill the terrain. If you want a road the just sits on top of the terrain, use a Polyline Road. With a Polyline Road yo need to do all the shaping with Terrain Data which means that it will not cut and fill, but instead just sit on the terrain.
