HI 

 

If I upgrade  to X17 and need to make changes to a plan  done in x16 .. Will I run into any issues that you know of??

Gee that's strange.. so if i go to x17 can i still revise a plan that was done  x16? by  reopening  x16 even though I have 17?

This does not relate to your question but these new features shown in this video I think would be very useful to the type of work you do

yes,

 

but if you want to place a new object from a catalogue not yet available in X17 you cannot...or at least that is my experience. I search for something in the library, it comes pack with something, then I go to download the catalogue...and it says the catalog is unavailable

This is how I work when a new version is released:

• Download the new version (X17) and work on test projects in the new version to get used to it.  Once I'm comfortable, I will start new client projects in the new version.
• Keep the previous version (X16) on my computer and finish up any ongoing projects.  Just easier and safer to finish up ongoing projects in the version they were started in.
• Both X17 and X16 can live on your computer and you can work in either version.  Just need to pay attention to which version you have open.

Just remember that once you save a file in X17 that you won't be able to open it back up in X16.  X17 can read X16 files no problem but X16 can't read X17 files.

 

Also, the new project management in X17 takes some time to get used to it.  If you are really set in your ways and don't want to have to learn a new system, you can always turn it off.

Hello,

 

To clarify what @SHCanada2mentions, there was a problem during X17 Beta where catalogs could not be downloaded from the Library Browser. As far as I'm aware, this has been fixed for the majority of users, after they have signed out and back in again.

 

If you're already signed in, and then browse catalogs from the Library Browser, the ones shown should be available for you to download.
