dshall
I have a project in which I need a symbol of some 3d text. See attached JPEG. I need the words "EL PORTILLO" in 3d and CURVED/ARCHED to fit within this wrought iron arch way. I am not sure of how to go about doing this. Is there anybody out there that would not mind doing this for me, thanks. Would you use SKETCHUP?
Joe_Carrick
Scott, In the Bonus Library there are 3D Text Symbols. Place them in your Plan and then in the Elevation View rotate each letter as needed about the "Y" axis. There's no need to create a complete string - just manipulate the individual letter symbols. jcaffee
What font, arc %, letter height, linear run, and extrusion depth? Are the letters to be plumb or radiant (angled to a center point)? Title case, all caps, small caps, title case small caps? Color/material? Do you even know what post a plan means? And yes, SketchUp is easiest for creating your 3D letters in whatever font your heart/customer desires. jon
Gawdzira
"Do you even know what post a plan means? :D" Scott, it is like you are trying to make yourself angry.
ACADuser
Scott, see if you can work with this ACAD file. Each letter is a block. If so did you want a different font? 3D_TEXT.zip

ARCHIJEF2000
GET BENT Mind you that text looks like it could do with being curved upwards to match the doorway, you could use the "Bend it like Beckham" technique, which is obliviously too well known to require further explanation. Beckham? ...... Beckham? Oh yeah, you mean Mr. Posh Spice. There is another Beckham playing football now and last night he gave new meaning to "Bend it like Beckham" with a catch that is being called the greatest of all time by many. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york-giants/post/_/id/40499/giants-odell-beckham-jr-makes-incredible-one-handed-touchdown-catch PS. It's worth suffering thru the obligatory ad to see the shots.
dshall
Was that not an unbelievable catch? I remember some great one handed catches by John JJ Jefferson of the Chargers, But Beckham's catch was unreal .
