4hotshoez
Why do I want to manage? How would I manage?
Dennis_Gavin
if you click yes it will take you to the folder where you can delete unnecessary saved archives. One thing that buds me is when I get this message on closing down, the file closes without taking you there.
Joe_Carrick
That message just indicates that you have a lot of Archive Files which may be taking up a lot of disk space. Supposedly answering "Yes" will open the folder in "Windows Explorer" and allow you to delete some or all of them. I say supposedly because it usually doesn't work. So, if you want to clean it up - just open Windows Explorer and navigate to the Archive Folder and do the maintenance that way.

Joe_Carrick
Dennis indicated that it doesn't work when "Closing Chief". I guess that's when I usually get the message. Evidenlty it works if you're just closing the Plan but keeping Chief open.
4hotshoez
I said yes the first time and wondered if this was to delete files. So how do I know what to keep and which to delete? It did not seem very clear.
Cheryl_C_Crane
I'm with Joe & Dennis, I usually get this when closing CA - then it doesn't work. Todd, only you can decide what to keep and what to delete. How heavy were the revisions, do you think that you may want to revisit certain changes, etc.? 4hotshoez
So they are just backups?
lbuttery
I never get these messages as I do my own "save as" and add date and time to the file name as a former programmer I prefer to be in control of my backups Lew
Gary_M
Yes Todd, in a sense they are backups.
DRAWZILLA
In prefences, you can also change the amount of backups you want higher or lower
ebdesign
Delete them all. If you ever need one, they're in your Recycle Bin. The archive folder always opens for me too; that I can remember anyway. I have it set to notify me after 30 files. 14 was too often.
lbuttery
If you ever need one, they're in your Recycle Bin Ummm, maybe some drive cleaners will empty the recycle without even asking as part of the cleanup to speedup your PC etc Lew
ebdesign
How about "highly likely" Lew? Can you give me that? I think most all drive cleaners will ask or notify w/ "OK?" if the Recycle Bin is to be emptied. In the initial setup, for sure. I know Windows does. When the Recycle Bin reaches its specified capacity, it deletes the oldest files 1st. So your "inventory" is always being rotated. out w/ the old, in w/ the new. I just looked at mine. Oldest file still there is over 2yrs old.
lbuttery
Jim: Hmmm, my oldest file is Sep 14 ? I have changed no settings since buying this PC in Jan so rely on the trash can if you want I would caution against it Lew
