DCB123
Hi guys; I’m trying to join two roofs here as you can see in the photos attached. the top main roof is a standard hip style, 3.5/12 Roof pitch, and the turret roofs are all on a 5/12 Roof pitch. So then, how do I blend these two different roof styles together, both at different pitches, so that they blend and will look right please? thx, DCB
lbuttery
If this is a new house my un-informed guess would be that the turret should be "taller" than the main hip roof then where they meet would be valley or cricket and flashing etc just a WAG Lew
NRST8TRKR
I agree with Lew, Raise the tower till the gutter boards are at the same elevation. It appears the where the main house roof intersects the tower you shouldn't have to put in a cricket, just a guess. Only concern would be the low pitch on both roof sections. NRST8TRKR
DCB , Here are a few shots of a tower job I am just completing. Have a great week end,Ken
javatom
Turn off the ridge caps of the turret and it will look better.
Larry_Sweeney
Lew is most correct. The eave fascia should either be the same or a foot or "more" above the main roof. I would also make the pitch on the "turret" at least twice the pitch of the main roof. Try that and see if changing the pitch is much more pleasing to the eye. Because the eave will be much above the top of the windows you could add more architectural detail in that area to help make the "turret" stand out. Of course this is my opinion only. You can take it with a grain of salt.
Chief16Designer
Start with automatic roof first than make manual changes as needed
glennw
You should be able to do it all automatically.
DavidJPotter
Yes, Glenn is right (like usual!) you can vary the ceiling height of just the turret to get exactly what you want automatically by trial and error. DJP
