  1. I'm trying the imagine why the opening post got a downvote... I'll upvote to counter....
  2. The roof will respond to structure height change only when Auto Rebuild Roof is on. If you turned that off, it won't change automatically. You can use Build Roof Planes to force them to redraw at the new structure height but if you created manual planes or altered the automatic planes you may lose some edits.
  3. 100%. Every plan set. Pretty pictures are not required but neither is a fine meal when a baloney sandwich will sustain life. Maybe it's just me but I don't think this looks cheesy. And I don't think this is possible with PBR and no retouching in other software.
  4. Only one wall type definition, with no hatching. Done with just layer settings. The first view has Walls Normal, Walls Layers, and Walls Main Layer Only all checked. Gray fill is in the Wall Def. Second view has just Walls Normal checked, which does not display the Wall Def fill color. This type of view would always have a white wall fill. Methods to get additional different views easily would be to set up different wall line colors on the Layer panel, which I do for walls and doors on floor framing views*, use hatching as you suggested and turn the Hatching layer off on certain views.
  5. I was unaware. Thanks for clearing that up. Love the program and happy to continue supporting SSA for all the great benefits beyond simply upgraded features.
  6. This is basically the method I use.
  7. You say that as if simply making the suggestion will quickly produce the feature. I know that's not what you meant, just quippin!!
  8. The Mac version should be priced lower if it's missing this huge feature. I haven't seen any sneak peeks but it sounds like a large chunk of X13 development went into this feature. Paying full price for half an update would violate my sense of fairness. @Dermot can you say if this upgraded feature is coming to the Mac OS??
  9. You can hit Purge and any unused materials will be deleted, or select two or more of the same name and hit Merge and they will be merged into one. But as rlackore said it's possible to have two dissimilar materials with the same name, so be careful doing that.
  10. I just manually set a p-solid base with stone texture, a p-solid cap with concrete texture, and a manually placed column on top of the cap.
  11. I don't know what stem wall height you want or how the porch tutorial is telling you to do it, but I set the foundation to "auto rebuild" and selected "Create Wall/Footing Below" in the railing walls Structure tab. Then I could set the stem wall height to whatever I want. Not sure what version that tutorial is in but this control is relatively new. Watch the version number of the program the tutorials are using, many are out of date.
  12. Nice that someone has already tried the poison fruit so I know not to.
  13. I gotta start adding a flock of birds flying by on my elevations...
  14. Yeah, that's what mine shows now too. Must have changed the interface. Now it loads in Basic by default which does not show textures, while Standard does, and is a little higher quality. Still not "HD" though so that may be why they changed it...?
  15. Can't look at plan or video right now, but if the program moves both edges, neither was "perfect" +1
  16. At this time you cannot suppress that dimension. I cover them with white CAD boxes now, which sucks. I made a suggestion some time ago that we have that ability, among other enhancements. Check it out, add your voice to the request:
  17. Looks better than many textures provided by Chief... grass, shingles etc. +1 For elevations the 2-D would be pretty easy to draw, easier I would think than modeling an actual door symbol. But to each their own. I spend an inordinate amount of time making a plan set cover that includes a ray trace of the exterior of the house with plants, tree shadows, and a nice graphic layout of the page with the homeowner's name in a pretty font. We all gots priorities.
  18. Yes. That's what I do. However I confess that I still suffer from forgottenitis.
  19. Go to your Account on chiefarchitect.com
  20. I extend them with CAD lines and CAD masks. It sucks. But I like the footing to stay with the wall in case I move the wall, I want the footing to go with it.
  21. Don't forget about 3D viewer models. I'm a design/builder and my homeowners LOVE that. Makes SSA non-negotiable for me.
  22. The system is good for the reason Michael stated except for a major flaw. Voters should be identified. That would largely end catty downvotes, "vendettas" and attacking others simply for their opinions. In a professional forum, such behavior is abuse and this system is easily abused because of anonymous voting. Ending abuse would go a long way to making the system more about knowledge of the program, and less about "popularity." Every other forum I use that has voting shows who voted.
