Weird-two plans, likely started in X7. Copied from second plan-first plan would not let me paste. Opened new plan-paste fine. Tried different objects-no paste. Tried to save as for the offending plan, still couldn't paste into it. This is all on new machine, new install, Win 10. I got around it-first did an edit area and copied the plan that I could not paste into and pasted that into a new plan. This was while waiting on the phone for support. Then after getting off the phone and going about packaging up the plan to send in. I decided to open it again-presto works now. Any ideas? ever run into this? I hope it is not something I run into more but ...

Yeah still there. They did fix the toe kick on the clips though and I'll take what they did to cabinet sides over fixing this 10 days out of 7. OTOH I discovered a much easier fix. -shift select the cabinet and block it-the clips will be persistent. You can block the cabinet with clips, block then tab the block to open it and add clips-doesn't matter if a cabinet is already next to it or not- the clips will show up (on all 4 corners though) It does not solve the issue of having clips on one side with a range on the other but hey...can't always get what you want.

I used to really want snaps to openings, now not so much. The only advantage I see to the snaps now would be that they would be live. That is taken into account in the workflow now though. I really don't think I will give up how I use the details even if it is implementd. I prefer working in the detail to pasting it back. If I need to make changes I can have each, detail and elevation open on different monitors. I mostly use the second method with the lines only when first setting up manufacturer templates so we can check them live, and once in a while I use a couple of lines on an elevation to check and quickly adjust an odd cabinet. In both cases I'm often up against the way Cheif does reveals as opposed to manufacturers. If I want it elevation/3D in Chief to match what will be built I often have to switch to traditional overlay and fudge separations. That means that when it comes time the openings will need some work anyway.

Unfortunately, you can't snap dimensions to those things. There are two ways to get there. 1-If you have the cabinet configured correctly you can use a CAD detail from view. I usually copy the cabinets in question to another room, remove the doors and then do a detail from view-you can snap to the openings there. To simplify the view I have a layerset with everything but cabinets turned off. 2-If you need to get the opening right in the first place. For horizontals-in an elvation-draw a line, open it and check lock, length angle. Go down to Start point y position and set that to a know height. Don't forget to add in for the floor since this doesn't measure from the finished floor but from the sub floor (to make life simple I have my floor structure set to 1" for all room types-at the very least change Kitchen and Bath type rooms to match the rest- OOB default is 7/8") Once you have the line set at a know height use transform replicate/copy to create lines at the openings. You can snap to these. Vertical lines are a little harder since they don't want to snap to the cabinets in elevation?(thought they used to?) Easiest way to get a starting line is just draw a vertical, do an end to end dimension, select the line, click the dimension when cursor changes to a hand and set to "0". Now use transform replicate/copy to add lines to snap to.

Really? I've been using it for years-XP, Win7,8,8.2 and now 10 without issue. What is it doing?

We've been using "backup entire file" to zip. Not ideal but easier than replacing stuff. Just got a MyCloud hoping that makes things easier but haven't had time to get it up and running so don't know.

Graham-I understand and yeah to each his own You just surprised me. FWIW 95% of my user library is something I made, altered, or imported. Per brand/construction I have cabinets, doors (all custom), modling profiles and blocked stacks, branded appliances, details, walls, accessories already set to proper height... I too never use the catalog cabinets, I love that Chief makes building and altering so easy-I just don't want to keep redoing it. Once done placing in the library allows using "replace from library" for the inevitable changes, as in- client switches from a Bosch oven to a Wolf installed flush inset. I also always use the cabinet schedule. To get modifications listed in it (that don't disappear on editing the cabinet) requires some gyrations in the component list. Having cabinets in the library with sub categories set up (a few per brand with common mods in them) speeds things up immensely. Been working on that as I go for a while now. BTW-I also dislike 2020 (used it for a very long time), but I still occasionally use it for very quick lists or ballpark pricing. There is no reason to be going through drop down lists. I only ever used them when learning a new brand. You can just type in a code (or even the beginning of one) to get to whatever you need. It's one of it's few strengths. It's particularly good for mods, I can add mods to an entire room and get a list in far less time than in CA. Now accessing dimensional changes is another story requiring muddling through horrendous DBXs forget about decent drawings thanks to disappearing notes and user dimensions (not to mention crashes, printing failures, trying to change colors, corrupt files....)

I think the harder part is not distorting the curved section. Might try making multiple symbols for the parts-setting planes for each then blocking them. Unblock or tab to access underlying symbol.

Weighs the same as my 9150. Both CPU and GPU are upgradeable, no Intel card or Optimus, can handle 3 external monitors, great ports. Haven't had time to boot it, dying to.

I've taken to putting more and more in my user library- but keeping that tidy is like keeping the garage clean. I also no longer download all of them and recently deleted most of the cabinet mfg catalogs I had.

Depends on the laptop, then what card you can switch to will depend on what socket the GPU uses. Then there is cost. FWIW-I've been having trouble with my 9150 and looked into getting a 970m or 980m and the cost was around $600 for the part. Well a new machine with a 970m and better processor can be had for as little as 12-1300. I'd head over to notebookreview.com and find the forum for your machine to find out. Might also be a good place to look into your issue. I'm pretty sure my problems are hardware related but am also looking into checking the GPU- they have links to some tools over there for that. One suggestion I saw somewhere was to use a special "GPU driver uninstall program" to deal with bad drivers and optimus. Another thing I've seen is that that with Optimus the dGPU still goes through the Intel card so I'd be checking GPU performance with some software.

With 3D export the dwg files get pretty messy-I gave up using that. Usually use Chief Viewer or 3D PDF-can also try exporting a 3D view to DAE and importing into SU. 2D dwg exported from a plan view will have extra lines on top of each other, from layout you get a few less of those but then it has to be scaled up in CAD.

You can have both and keep them live in the plan. Attached screenshot- This has two of the same views but with different layersets, one over the other. First sent to layout using plot lines, the used copy and past in place- dragged the side of the pasted layout box past the first one so it is easily selectable later, then changed the layerset-to get multiple colors for the text I put them on different layers. If this is something you will do all the time add the layersets to you default plan. Except for details I keep notes on a seperate page so not something I'd likely use but since you are considering that the colors cabinets and such in vector view will vary depending on materials this may be a better option.

FYI-Tested the plan with Bluebeam Standard v2015.1- same results you show in file in linked thread.

If that fails. Safe mode, hit F8 (on mine some are f10) as it starts to access drive. Repeatedly. May get you there.

Short term solution: you can give up a live schedule. Select schedule and copy. I use Open Office so end up pasting into the word processor, select all, text to table. I often copy paste that into spreadsheet (can't remember why). Edit as needed, copy, making sure all cells have a borders. In Chief, rich text, paste. Not as bad as it sounds, just not live so save the office doc in case of changes and place the new schedule on same CAD detail as original schedule. "Not sure" answer- may be able to edit in the components list? But if you can it is likely changes will be lost if item is edited. Guessing you're problem is appliances in cabinets? I now almost always use models imported from SU warehouse. That allows for correct make and model number and (usually) with correct overall dims. I really prefer having an accurate appliance /cabinet configuration to begin with. Though that can be a challenge as well and with some it's likely that the overall dimensions are not correct for the appliance itself. My concern is always having correct cabinet openings and 3D look.

I have a hi end brand that uses Soss hinges between the doors solves the adjustment problem but pricey. For susans, when I can I use the in attached video-doors that fold in and revolve. Have had one in my house for over a decade. Can be used on both frameless full overlay and inset- not good for framed overlay IMO. I won't give the ones with fixed doors that revolve to people with little kids- too many damaged finger reports.

You can create named filters that would only show the libraries you want to see.
