  1. this has been an issue since I started in 2004 with ver 9.5 you would think that CA could have fixed it by now Lew
  2. Perry: HD Suite doesn't have manual tools for roofs or cabinets etc It only costs $99 a Chief Premier user could fix the roof and then suite could display the roof as changed Lew
  3. Interesting, wasn't aware this was possible thanks Lew
  4. Michael: yes, if you have some of the Core content then "Update" will try to download the latest "everything" for a lib but if a bonus or manuf lib is totally missing then "update" won't do it didn't realize the tubs were in Core content I assumed it was a bonus lib Lew
  5. Update should only work on existing libs if the lib is missing then it needs to be downloaded again Lew
  6. Hi: this forum is aimed at the users of Chief Premier you will find better advice for HD products on the Hometalk forum since HD Suite doesn't have manual roof tools (only HD PRO does) your only option is to try to set the wall definitions properly for the auto-roof gen since you already had the roof correctly you must have a setting or so off now David Potter may be able to assist you as he has almost all the HD titles for many versions back Lew
  7. hmmm, this is new to me I've never heard of PDF's being able to turn layers on/off ? Lew
  8. including a computer that supports Bluetooth. Ok, not sure mine has this feature reading that article and having measured houses in the past by myself I think it would be "tedious" to be running back and forth between Disto and PC with an assistant it might be feasible ? I bought the $700 Disto Plus back in 2005 and a Dell PDA with BT and tried this with Powercad software on the PDA it didn't work very well and I gave up on the concept and just used the Disto in simple mode after that I'm now retired so I]m just curious about this but won't be needing it anymore Lew
  9. is Chief BT enabled ? I don't remember this feature being added ? If so, which version was it added ? Lew
  10. I've heard that the free Texture Studio does this Lew
  11. probably best to contact tech support they are closed on the weekends Lew
  12. Farrel: when bringing legacy plans forward there are always "translation" issues - some minor, maybe some major software looks at "A" and says how do I do it as "B" now ? usually software doesn't eliminate features but only improves them this is why it is not possible for complex software like Chief to be backward compatible it would have no idea what to do with "B" and would probably need to leave "B" out and then there would be gaps and unconnected pieces and in general just result in a horrible mess Lew
  13. that type of behavior might indicate a memory leak .... wheras errant code keeps using memory until it uses it up or tries to address memory outside its "bounds" on the other hand it could be something else Lew
  14. another choice for Win 8 is Start8 Lew
  15. Mark: you are correct, I should have said ver 5 wouldn't work I meant to ask what version Farell had but got a call and got distracted Lew
  16. nope, that was 3DA ver 5 done by a totally different vendor nothing to do with CA (ART back then) can you save it as a .DXF or .DWG ? Lew
  17. 0 bytes means you didn't close the plan before zipping Lew
  18. Curt: I went with Win7 also some will recommend Win 8 HP and some other vendors and now offering new Win7 PC's again $1500 is a good aiming point above or below depends on your needs/wants Lew
  19. I can only re-state that there are plans where I had to show basic M and P layouts for residential so I would like the tools to be there for when I need them Lew
  20. Joey: I have done it many times I don't tell them "exactly" but I do give "direction" it also helps to do the MEP plan and then get the trades feedback as they may say B instead of A then the design is changed or a compromise is reached etc etc etc if this is such a problem then why does Chief have electrical tools ??? Lew
  21. George: agreed, let the trades do their work however, the same as Chief has electric tools (E in MEP) why not have some dedicated M and P tools it helps to plot M and P "In general" to avoid collision detection and other designing issues IOW,we can show the trades "it goes about here" and "be next to X" Lew
  22. Probably best to call sales and discuss they are open till 5 PM pacific Lew
  23. Mark: are you sure view to cad is disabled I thought the only "cripples" were the inability to save a plan and a watermark on renders/rays and layouts ? Lew
  24. Mark: I doubt if many users have bothered to delete layers and annosets Lew
  25. I started with Chief 9,5 in 2004 and there were calls from years prior to that for MEP tools been many calls since then and .... Lew
