  1. Yes, just noticed. This is a HUGE letdown. The really fine lines looked great and now all the lines are too thick. I think they need to insert at least 2 lighter line weights in before Line Weight 1.
  2. I have noticed it and reported it. If you have some plans where that dbx is too large to function correctly, you can reset the dbx sizes in Preferences. The issue I reported was that the tab slider between Material and Pattern did not work. It has been fixed
  3. You may already know this, but when creating a symbol of the secondary building, it can be helpful to create a layer set that removes the display of as many items as possible, like cabinets, interior doors, moldings, framing, etc. In the image below, all the buildings and the terrain (separate for each building) are symbols.
  4. I should be careful what I post...my wife might see my comments about her last contribution to a family potluck!
  5. This applies to my general experiences...so generally speaking the 2nd building is a simpler building like a pool house or a detached garage, or a nanny suite. Usually, due to the slope of the lot, the main floor of the accessory building is not at ZERO. This creates hassles. Usually the accessory building can almost be completely built using Chief's auto tools, which are turned off in the main plan because of it's complexity. The client may be indecisive about the placement of the 2nd building relative to the first, or relative to the lot, which requires much more time to make those adjustments. I have many template files for accessory buildings which are completed plan sets and layout sets that, due to Chief's auto tools, often only require me to move 2 walls and alter a few settings to have a completed plan set in minutes. I never have an issue converting a building to a symbol. It works great. I don't like my jello salad touching the potatoes and gravy...ughh, gross! I've also done it with both in the same plan, it's slower so it reduces my earnings.
  6. I NEVER EVER draw 2 buildings in the same plan file. There are plenty of reasons why I wouldn't. If I need to provide imaging of both together, I'll use a symbol of the simpler building or Chief's reference display.
  7. Don't suppose you have an example pic handy? I can think of plenty of ways that Chief can be used for larger projects, but larger is relative. As long as the building is rectilinear and made up of rooms and floor levels, Chief may very well be able to handle it. This...Yes: This...No.
  8. The only help I've got is to change all the lights...sorry! I deleted all the added lights and used the light fixtures only, with some edits to their light properties.
  9. If you use trusses, there would be a structural truss with vertical gable studs between the stress members / top & bottom chords. If you use rafters, there would be a gable end wall framed between ceiling joists and roof rafters.
  10. You're missing something in your settings because it's unlikely a graphics card issue. Can you post the plan? I'm sure it's just something you've overlooked or a setting you may be unaware of.
  11. It looks like the floor platform is going through roof planes where they join together. Can you post the plan? You probably should create some "attic" rooms on the 2nd floor, close to the edges of the roof.
  12. There is probably not an exterior wall below it. Main floor plan view, turn off auto-roof, place a point at the gable, move to attic level, turn on reference display, drag attic wall to point.
  13. That's all you can do. However, if you keep the original cabinet in your plan or library, then it'll be fairly quick to make adjustments and repeat the symbol process.
  14. I hear ya. I can tell by your example that you also want your aluminum railing on stairs to look somewhat realistic! I wish they'd give us stairs, railings etc, that are can be exploded (sort of) ...allow us to edit the parts, but with a reset button, or something like that.
  15. Place a stair at each edge, then just drag them close together.
  16. Can we seriously not rotate the layout box of a section or elevation view? I'm gonna have to use an old-fashioned CAD detail, right?
  17. You need my special wall type the "Deck Defeater"! You can use it to define the deck perimeter, then set the deck's actual railing to "No Room Definition". Caution though, having those 2 walls in the same place can come with extra hassles!
  18. I'd be curious to know the origin of the wall you used and if that had some effect. I use single layer wall types for 2 scenarios: concrete foundation walls, and as-built plans. I've never had the problem you demonstrated and I can't replicate it in a new plan or in an existing plan. But there's no question that something's buggy in the plan you posted, but I don't know what it is.
  19. Are you Jimmy Ray, I mean GordonRay as well? I was obviously responding to a different user. For all we know, this user may have their walls setup differently than yours. The point was that if a plan is posted...not yours, but GordonRay's, then we could investigate a bit further. And the comment about layers was simply a reminder that using wall layers, if possible, may help solve the problem. I never suggested or intimated that you or anyone else was doing something incorrectly. So unless you are BenPalmer and GordonRay, then only you posted a plan which identified the problem. GordonRay did not.
  20. You'd need to post a plan so we know exactly what wall types are giving you the problem. Keep in mind that Chief would like an interior and an exterior layer.
  21. Interestingly enough, rotate the texture and pattern 90 degrees and see what happens.
