The text size for a displayed line length is controlled by the Text Style for the actual polyline. For a property line in a site plan I use a text size that will be about .125" when printed. For most of my site plans that ends up at about 20"-30" depending on the scale of course. TIP: a much simpler way to control text style (than Chief's OOB settings) is to name your text styles based on the font / text size / bold / underline / uppercase, etc. For the bearing angles, I use the azimuth bearing (just because the angle display is typical in my region) which requires an accurately placed north arrow.

Unfortunately Plant Images will not cast a shadow in PBRT, only in CPU RT.

Living Area is controlled by the Room Specifications. Certain room types contribute to the Living Area and others do not. And like many things in Chief, these defaults can be customized or controlled manually on a per-room basis. To see what is included in the Living Area calculation, single click about 1 foot outside of the building. The Exterior Room will be highlighted and the Make Living Area Polyline tool will become active. Single click this tool to create the polyline. Note that changing the shape of this polyline will not affect how the Living Area is calculated.

I guess Chief would need to answer that one. But the intent of that tool is to create a view of a single wall and the items that are hosted on that wall.

From Help: "The Wall Elevation tool creates an interior elevation of a single wall defining the room that the camera is drawn in." I guess that's just how that tool works.

What type of camera did you initially use? Wall Elevation?

I haven't used this product but if I were I'd set it up as a single layer in the wall spec. and I'd show it as a single layer in cross sections, and both layers in details. And then I'd probably change my mind after finding a reason to show it as 2 layers, and then I'd change my mind again and go back to a single layer.

A simple way to create a matching door symbol is to draw a 36" long section of that railing, then convert it to a door symbol.

Stone veneer not resting on foundation - what did I screw up?
robdyck replied to TxHillbilly's topic in General Q & A
The CAD detailing does NOT auto-update. Create a new section view, then click "Auto Detail" to see the difference. NOTE to CHIEF ARCHITECT: PLEASE remove the auto brick ledge depth created by masonry materials! -
I've got an inexpensive cordless mouse with 2 buttons on the left side and I'm still trying to figure out what they're for! I've got the 2 on top pretty much nailed!

Does anyone know of a very simple way to adjust all plan view electrical symbols to be large enough for 1/8" scale plans? Many of the existing symbols have a text icon that's less than 3" which is really a bit too small for 3/16" scale plans and far too small for 1/8". Adjusting each CAD symbol one at a time is not an option!

Chief x13 keeps crashing on my Windows 11 Alienware computer.
robdyck replied to JPCompass's topic in General Q & A
I may have actually had less issues since installing Windows 11. Of course I have no idea if it's even a factor but I was just able to get this complex symbol out of the library on the first try!! Now that's what I call performance! Finally X13 and Nvidia are getting along!! -
You can just delete the 2nd floor. Chief will rebuild attic walls as needed. Just make sure you don't have any objects still on that floor that you don't want deleted, like roof planes.

@HumbleChief That is exactly what I did! Nice work, Larry.

rebuild foundation wall to accommodate brick ledge requirement
robdyck replied to DenisePac's topic in General Q & A
You can insert a dropbox link or a google drive link (or similar). And to get someone's attention, you need to either 'quote' them or mention them @DenisePac, like this. Then, the person you've replied to will get a notification. -
Polyline solid (draw right or left half only) drawn in plan view. Edit shape in elevation view to match roof. Edit Shape in section view by pulling the top inwards. Copy, reflecting about center of roof ridge.

rebuild foundation wall to accommodate brick ledge requirement
robdyck replied to DenisePac's topic in General Q & A
That's probably correct, but it could be something else. You really should post the plan or a download link so that anyone willing and able to help you isn't guessing. Then you'll get an actual solution and usually quite quickly! -
Looks like you nailed it! Snazzy fireplace btw.

I'm just having a little end of the day fun. @MTStuart It's helpful if you add some info about what version of Chief you are using. Also helpful if you can describe your issue in more detail. Are you trying to illustrate this in a 3d view or provide a section detail drawing as part of a plan?

It rebuilds the model on command. Open Help, search Rebuilding Walls, Floors and Ceilings

To raise the floor of that 1 room only, you will need a separate room on the floor below. This will mean using invisible walls to define a room in the same location on floor 1. The simplest way is to copy this wall (see image), then paste-in-place on floor 1 and set to invisible. Check floor heights are as you'd like and everything should work out as expected.
