  1. In my opinion, Chief is the wrong software for this project. Use SketchUp and save yourself time and hair.
  2. Use the EDIT LAYOUT tool and delete the lines you don't want.
  3. Or you make them once and save them to your template.
  4. Downspouts are in the library, all line weight, size and color controlled via layer/anno sets.
  5. The program already works the way you describe. If you want your text on the CAD, ELECTRICAL layer, then set it up that way. As for the "stimulating conversation" remark. You either want our help or you don't. We are trying to tell you that the program will work the way you want it to, you just aren't listening, or can't be bothered with setting up a template for yourself to make it work that way.
  6. Ummm...no disrespect, but no. Text is text. I think you can change your annos to work for the way you work, but a blanket statement like that is simply not the way CAD works. Personally, I have my template set up to think like I think. When I switch from PLAN VIEW to FRAMING VIEW all of my text, callouts, misc lines, dimensions, etc..switch with me. One click and done. When I go from FRAMING to ELECTRICAL, one click and done. Nothing complicated about that.
  7. Then draw the angled section last....
  8. I believe if you draw the angled section first, then bring the other rails off that, the newels will show angled.
  9. It already exists in the macros. Just place in either per text box, or paste in in the label.
  10. Dropbox must have changed the rules! I have 54GB and have never paid. I have recommended dropbox to many people, and if they sign up I get free storage, so a lot of my friends must have signed up.
  11. Are they 2D or 3D AutoCAD files? 2D...maybe feasable 3D...wouldn't even try (personally)
  12. Free version. And it works just like your USB drive without the lag and hassle of removing it and taking the chance of misplacing it.
  13. Breakline and notes, or draw the stairs with CAD lines and note accordingly.
  14. But you are using a cabinet...johnny is not.
  15. Auto roofs...auto roofs....auto roofs.....don't start a plan without them on.
  16. Mine is a CAD block saved to the library. CLO BLK.calibz
  17. I am most likely off. I try to use that feature as little as possible. I do remember having issues in some older versions selecting certain lines. I just tried one and seems to work better than I remember.
  18. You can't select pattern lines, or CAD lines created while in the camera mode, unless that has changed. And generally, you can't select CROSS SECTION lines without unlocking the layer.
  19. If you want the bottom section of the pony wall to display in plan view, you have to tell the wall to display it when you set up the pony wall.
  20. You need to have the terrain built in order for the footings to generate.
  21. I don't have Chief installed on a cloud, but I work from dropbox. All my project files are located in dropbox, and the archive files on my machine. My Chief files are wherever I am.
  22. They are moving around because one or both ends of the arrow is "attached" to the view window you are re-sizing.
  23. They will update once you open them...which you would have to do anyway to re-align the text and fills that are used.
  24. That's a workaround Lew. No need for workarounds if you use the program correctly. Simply open the structures room DBX like other have said and set the heights.
