You need to have 2 wall types. One for new and one for existing.
-
Sorry, I was away. I use a fence wall for this and apply the chainlink.
-
There are a couple metal poles that I use under MILLWORK>BALUSTERS, NEWELS, & POSTS>CAPPED

Isn't there some in the library? It's in mine...
-
Regardless of the version...just draw the walls on the 2nd floor. Just like you would build it.
-
Still learning. Thanks guys.

Umm...what? I think he is talking about the layout view borders controlled by the layout layer. Of course you can place a box and turn it off, but that wasn't the question.

Plan or layout files? In the FILE menu there is an option to BACK UP ENTIRE PLAN and when choosing this option you can include all the different linked images and files. Exporting a layout file though, just so you know, is a big no, no. You would be exporting a page to a certain scale, not the plan on that page to its original scale. And, I'm not sure you can export to DWG and have any of the images or PDF's go with it.

You are correct. All or nothing.

32" dropped garage walls & frost foundation
joey_martin replied to mpatalsky's topic in General Q & A
Need to set this up in foundation bdx before you build it. -
I prefer the elevation camera with the sketchy overlay.
-
FWIW...this seems like a lot of overthinking the process! Chief will keep copies of your files in the archives forever. Occasionally I will "save as" a copy for some changes that I know have little hope of surviving but....honestly...I just open the file and go to work.

How To Create A Roof on the 1st Level (below 2nd Story)
joey_martin replied to akabuilder's topic in General Q & A
Here is what I do... I layout the first floor...obviously....and when I am ready for the second floor, I set the second floor ceiling height to the height I want my knee walls. In this sample I set them to 54". So that means my entire second floor will have 54" ceiling heights, and that is OK with me. Now, when I am ready to start laying out my rooms up there, I TURN OFF auto roof build. Now I can move those ceiling heights up to 97" and my roof stays where it's suppose to be. -
The font you like, and all caps or not, and why
joey_martin replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
I've moved to TImes New Roman for all plans and docs. Easy to read and prints well. -
Multiple details can be drawn in CAD Detail windows and sent to a single layout page at what ever scale you want them to be.
-
Smart Board, Hardie Trim Boards, AZEK Trim Boards. They come in many sizes and can be used to help with that transition.
-
Either is fine with me. I do them manually and there is a capital X, but I don't care either way.
-
MAcros....AHHHHHHH.....I can't for the life of me figure out to get mine right. Why, at this stage of development, is this not a standard macro? I have to do these manually when I need them because everything I have tried fails! I WANT THIS STANDARD!!!! Sorry, I now return you to your regularly scheduled topic.

Just noticed this. Anything become of getting together?
-
You don't have one specified judging from that picture, otherwise there would be a gap there. Look at the foundation tab and make sure you have one specified.
-
Still there. Also still treats the door between the garage and the house as an exterior door. Super annoying!

Why doesn't my material list show other lumber components?
joey_martin replied to 22trobbins's topic in General Q & A
Without looking I would say you need to go back and ensure you have specified all those other things to be built. Also, the materials list is just like other aspects of the program, there are "layer views" for the list. Do you have those items turned on? -
Have you made sure those snaps are turned on?

Q: Sending elevation views to layout - Suppress Label option
joey_martin replied to para-CAD's topic in General Q & A
Turn off the label in the layout layer set. -
It won't. Just use an actual beam if you want it shown.
