  1. I hop one license between my windows and mac and it's super easy. Chrisb222 nails it. On the chief website Go to License Management and "Deauthorize" your dead machine. Install Chief on your other machine and use your login "key" to authorize the new device.
  2. Did you have that issue before rounding to ½"? I keep mine at 1/16th and force objects to move to the exact dimension I want. So far, the CAD obeys me.
  3. calibz Multiple Meter Elec.calibz Let's hope I did this right
  4. Here's the OBJ file6 meters.obj
  5. Now if I could just share the plan with the original post member without sharing all the internals, like details from you and Dan embedded, then that member would be set. Yes........it's a nice slow day and I was fishing for something to help out with.
  6. WOW!!! This rendering thing might just become fun for me. THANK YOU, Brother man. In Chief X17 above
  7. Nice.......I will change the meters to clear glass.
  8. There are dials on the meters...... It would be nice to see it the same in chief as in sketchup I don't do things in render to this level, but the OP probably wants more realism than the OBJ output. This is why I don't import 3D. I can just import a static screen shot from SU and it works for me
  9. Here's the sketchup file https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/84btt6xcfuf0m764sum5d/Multiple-electrical-meters.skp?rlkey=uxa3j43aa3xfm9l4a1fyvhk84&dl=0
  10. Yep....sketchup can do this, but exporting it to the correct format would be nice. I tried OBJ and lost all the resolution. SKETCHUP ABOVE CHIEF IMPORTED OBJ FILE Options to export from Sketchup
  11. Left click and release on the first roof plane that you choose. Make sure you're near the edge of the roof plane that you want to connect with another roof plane when you click. It will make a red square or grip and you'll know that it's the chosen edge. Press and release the number two on your keyboard. Move your mouse to the next roof plane and click on it closer to the edge that you want to join with the initial roof plane. If you're building a shed roof, just drag the upper edge like a poly line until it bumps into the wall at the top of the roof plane. As soon as you click on the second roof plane, the software should automatically connect the two roof planes. If it does not then there are other things to look into. This is coming from memory and dictated through a microphone so there may be some confusion in there since I may miss something in proofreading.
  12. MBP M1max I print to PDF at 100% scale. No issues. My layout is set at ARCH D (36x24) Everything is scaled already in layout. I have to remind print shops to print at 100% because sometimes their machines will print at 95%. I had a permit office guy call me out as if my plans were not drawn to scale........client had them reprinted correctly........no apologies. Now everyone is PDF only. I'll make a video if that helps
  13. I just tried ChatGPT to render some framing.............it missed on the bottom cords of the trusses https://chatgpt.com/s/m_68744475b4a08191b51c5b7b593c092f
  14. Sure....I was thinking a half bathroom, nice elongated toilet, pedestal sink, and 12' tall walls (12'-1 ⅛"). I need a room like that almost every day so I feel your urgency. Of course it'd be tree-fiddy for the PDF
  15. Preferred No more mac Intel support https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/sysreq.html
  16. VINYL SIDING Jobsite fire in the winter in Clarksville TN...2005 Yep....that day sucked
  17. Not sure if you can split the top and bottom to only 1 top and 1 bottom. Specify with words on plan and in contract I guess.
  18. Are they exposed truss tails or true rafter tails?
  19. I got rid of X16. I guess I could reinstall. I'll relook at the download library. Thanks much.
  20. X17 I tried to download a silhouette that had the wire-frame globe symbol (to download) and I was denied. Is there some additional expense or tier that I need to have to access these offerings?
  21. I use the MX3, the G604, and hard wired, the G502 HERO. All Logitech. But I also use a StreamDeck for custom shortcuts with one button ease.....and a 3D Connexion mouse (puck and enterprise) but I can't get them to work well with Chief.........only Sketchup. Someone (Rene) should do a pay per view video on his set up of 3D mice. $40 for a 1 hour interactive video. Get 100 people to sign up and he'd put a great show together.
  22. So if the client goes with someone else, they have at least paid upfront for the design process, right? If you don't win the contract to proceed, the design time is still paid and NOT contingent on client acceptance. I had a "GC" try that once. Like I was investing in his ability to close the deal. Just seeking clarity for the guys looking to invest time helping you with this.
