I created this mind map (back when I was into that sort of thing) to capture what I needed in a typ. plan for permit. Maybe you have a different set of steps, requirements, procedures.

Our blocking comes with 3 @ 2" holes drilled in them and screened = bird blocks

Is this a clean plan or did you have other walls near there that have since been deleted? I've seen ghost walls do crazy things sometimes.

Whether lines or fills, AutoCAD calls all those things Hatching. Chief and maybe SketchUp might be the only ones making that distinction

I use separate plan files. I'm not savy enough with chief to do everything in one plan file. - As-built plan - Demo Plan - New proposed plan. Even the site plan is it's own plan file. All are sent to a single layout file. Referenced files can be overlaid to create some nice views between as-built and new for example.

I like your thought of using text. Do you have to have the new space visible in 3D? You could create a couple of 2D details (CAD LINES) to show what's up and reference them on the plan for that area.

I had major crashes and I have a loaded M1 max. I run 100% clamshell to 2 external monitors. It only occurred in 3D in chief....so I waited for the next chief update. I worked without 3D for a while. Sketchup, auto cad, all worked fine. Then I decided to see if my hardware was an issue. Apple ran some tests and told me that they needed to replace things so off to Memphis, TN it was shipped. They replaced the display and whatever else (the invoice was vague). It worked great, but just last week during a client zoom, when I was in 3D....chief went completely black. Now when I go to open chief, it crashes before it loads.......and just tonight, this happened. Not a happy camper am I.

Those are a pain to frame, too. We would have the studs at 6" o.c. to help keep the sheetrock from looking segmented. I've had that exact problem, but it was with a print shop printing to paper at 95% (their default) instead of 100%. I'm on a Mac and have no issues. Can you share a file you have had this issue with - strip out whatever you don't need to share, and I will try to reproduce the error so it can be studied and solved.

At the 12" walkline the tread should be 10" or greater. It's only 8 ¼". You're right to suspect these stairs.

I had a Magic Trackpad that was B/T to my computer and it had something barely pressing on it. I was flummoxed for a bit until I cleared my desk and the problem went away. Now that trackpad has the batteries removed (just as a precaution)
