It's a combination of bad/complex materials/models. I had this happen recently. I did a file "Save As...", then closed and reopened the new file. Stripped the room down to defaults, the added and re-ran ray trace with each material or new object added. In my case it was a faucet that I'd used dozens of times, but X6 did not like it--nu uhn, nowaywhatsoever. jon

Speed it up please..... please.... this is ridiculous...

Something to try when you return... http://www.macbooster.net/ The PC version is a godsend to the less than technical user. Once you're sure the OS is in tip-top shape, then you can blame everything else on Chief ;-) jon -
I set a terrain perimeter; drew a CAD "Circle About Center"; Converted circle to Road Perimeter; drew Straight Roads from perimeter edge to circle edge until the snap "x" displayed. Vertical roads joined correctly. Horizontal; notsomuch. I see is your plan you converted to pline and connected manually. I guess that's what I'm need to do. So much for automation. jon

Trying automated road tools and a cul-de-sac/roundabout. Straight roads join properly if drawn vertically, but don't join if drawn horizontally. ??? Any help, please. jon 20140407_CulDeSac_SNAFU.zip

The site is a student resource. They push the boundaries of "Fair use"; borrowing materials from commercial and public domain sources. However, I've found good links back to the original source in some cases. Others, are just flat out lifted from 3D Max, etc. jon

That would make a great video Scott (Harris not Hall)(Although, the pure entertainment of watching DSH accomplish this would be priceless)(No, not priceless, but it wouldn't cost me anything... ) jon

One thing I've noticed... You need to have better materials handling discipline (over X5) or all those same name materials w/slightly different properties will make your life slow and miserable. jon

Make your material a bit less transparent or use a textured glass material. jon

I subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud, so all the latest and greatest including Acrobat XI Pro. And, since it's a lease, it's same year tax deductible. No depreciation to mess about with. jon

Use a high visibility material (neon pink/neon green) to replace and then try to spot it in Perspective Floor Overview (Dollhouse). Just because I'm not holding my breath for a new feature. jon

Create an account on the Rev-A-Shelf web site and get models from the manufacturer. http://www.rev-a-shelf.com/t-revashelf.cad-users-2020.must-login.aspx jon

It took five minutes or so to get going, but once the ray trace started, it was quick: 100 passes in 4:14 on indoor "Quick" defaults. jon

https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=715d62ba70cd4e0accb8735c4632f700 or, use the Simpson "Georgian" door as a basis to customize your own Chief model. jon

I would use a virtual Win 8 Hyper-V or Oracle VBox setup with native XP 64bit. Best performance for your legacy printer without the need for workarounds or maintaining additional hardware. jon

The CT developers need a P3P compliant privacy policy. Otherwise a cookie "hack" is the only solution. Read it, learn it, know it. http://www.w3.org/P3P/usep3p.html jon
