  1. JPC, connect the footing you drew to the outside perimeter, and they will behave. You are correct, the slab footings are simply walls with footing...
  2. Oh, maybe you want to skip it, boy, a different approach.
  3. Take a look at this JPC, it is very old, but it may give you some insight.
  4. lol Suppose it is the woman in class and her husband needs something to do. Do you think the gardening class as advertised will work?
  5. Not copy wall but CUT wall, but I am sure you figured that out.
  6. No, not walls but roofs
  7. I put those walls up one level. (Attic level). So they don't show in plan. Put them on their own layer as Eric suggests, and then post plan .
  8. Somewhere I have done many videos on how to do this, if you search DORMER VIDEOS BY DSH on you tube, you may be able to find the vids. I am able to do this.
  9. We should be able to specify if we want one or two joist under wall, I do not want to turn off auto framing to achieve this, one day CA will give us this option.... hopefully... we can not do this now.
  10. You changed it to furred and no room def. I would of done it non room def only Why? I don't know, but I think I would of got the same thing. So we agree it should be non room def, The question is if you also Define it as furred, how does it behave differently? I do not know..
  11. I was thinking of you when I made my previous comment. I am not sure what the mystery is, the current driveway tools are lacking.
  12. I think we all get this, but the question is, can you break a curb with a terrain feature. So for me there are two issues: 1- how do we reshape a driveway/driveway apron and have it break the curb to create a curb cut 2- why can't we choose a curved curb cut or an angled curb cut.
  13. I get this, but for some reason the roof overhang I was using in my example actually went over the deck. Point is, some inconsistencies.
  14. This is a great question without a good answer. I do not know why we can't do this. I think I first asked for this about 10 years ago.
  15. This is such a great question. I think there are many ways to handle this. I do not call it a furred wall, I call that wall NO ROOM DEF. How should we do it? Define the wall as a furred wall or a non room def? I do not know. Why would I define the plumbing wall as either non room def or furr wall, I do not know. Michael if he has time might want to explore the different options, or I will if I find the time. Good question Mon Cherie.
  16. Yep, their plan is perfect except they want to change a door swing, 3 hours later, it is a different plan.
  17. I can show roof planes separate from overhangs. So you are missing something. However, when I think of a roof overhang, I think it is from fascia to exterior wall, that is not what I am seeing. Red dashed is the Overhang, Blue dash is the roof eaves, Roof overhangs are still useless to me unless someone can explain them to me,
  18. It's tempting, but I ain't gonna bite on this one. You win Joey, you are the smartest man.
  19. Folks like Michael "The Alaskan Son" spend a lot of his time helping out newbies and experienced folks. Thank you Michael for all of the help you have provided. You are a great asset. If you ever want to call me a nitwit for not posting a plan, do so, I will welcome your assistance at the cost of being berated. One final note, if a plan had been posted, the OP would of probably received some very clear guidance along with a video to further explain the process instead of 4 lines that even an experienced user would have problems understanding. Keep up the good work Michael.
  20. So it cannot be done on a roof plane by roof plane basis? Is that what we want?
  21. I do not understand why that is so. We should be able to change the orientation of the blocking after the roof has been built. If I am not mistaken, I have requested this in the past.
  22. Allen, if you would like I will do a go to meeting with you and we can probably work it out in less than one hour working together. Your call.
  23. At one time it was "5'-0" TO DAYLIGHT" it is now "MINIUM 7'-0" TO DAYLIGHT" what this means is if you were to project a horizontal line from the bottom of the footing to "daylight", the distance must be at least 7'-0". I would bet Perry and Joe and Larry would confirm this.
  24. No nothing new, I will skip vid.
