Well, here it is fixed.... I said a few cuss words and then turned the walls from attic walls to non attic walls, and it is now fixed. 15-1071 Ridgewood Garage FIXED 1.plan

Interesting, if you select the side wall, define as going thru ceiling, you will get your wall, albeit a ballooned framed wall.... which maybe not what you want. But think about it , maybe you want the wall ballooned framed so it is not an issue. If you do not want it ballooned.... I am not sure what your option is other that to build it yourself on the attic level..... of course I would have a 3rd floor, but that is another subject.

As usual I did learn something from you...... I learned how to use the use soffit material option..... I have a lot of sloped ceiling with stucco finishes, thanks for that. I maintain the second floor option is the best method. -

Glenn, it looks like the closet walls are shorter than the exterior walls, IOW the top of the wall is not as tall as the line where the roof plane hits the wall, whereas in the latest picture the closet walls reach that line. You must of changed something. I assume you do not have ceiling joists if a section was cut, and I assume you can not have a different materials for the closet ceiling and top of closet floor. -

Do you get a finish on the floor above closet? -
That is very true, but I find the CA dimensioning for elevations a non starter. I use CAD lines, similar to what Alan is talking about. The CAD lines are already in my elevation camera shots, and it is simply a matter of changing the CAD lines to reflect 8' plates vs 9' plates. I wish it was more auto, but I have found it more trouble than it is worth.

Yep, I could not get it to open either. Hey Greg, what gives Bud, if Perry can do it, I am sure you can. I got to say, Little "P" is on my mind, come Wednesday, things are going to be great..... I just know it..... sh*****, F the big C! Wednesday is going to be a new beginning..... I just know it.

Why wouldn't you do it the way Tommy suggests? I cannot think of one good reason to use your method instead of Tommy's. If you do not use Tommy's method, you might want to give it a try.... very powerful method and no downside. -
2nd Floor Hall Room Settings That Won't Stay Put!
dshall replied to BFogarty's topic in General Q & A
Here is the answer. Do not change in the ROOM SPEC BOX, change it in the FLOOR 2 DEFAULTS. Open plan, go to second floor, open FLOOR 2 DEFAULTS and change them to what you want them. It should stick and all will be well. You probably should of watched DJP's video. -
Gee whiz, don't I get some credit for asking?

Turn on BUMPING. I do not understand how bumping gets turned off..... But it does.

Glenn, that makes it even easier....... One of those new roof planes ends up as part of the main hip.

Here is a solution. The ridge is parallel to ground (not angled) and all the roof pitches are the same. Eaves are exactly the same, The top plates are the same height and the ceiling inside is constant. Note there are 2 additional roof planes.

A quick comment, this should be great GTM..... we are very lucky to have Glenn share his knowledge, if you are interested, send me an email at dscotthall@mac.com and I will include you as long as we have room. I am hoping this will be a rapid fire Q&A. I already have about a dozen questions for Glenn that I am hoping he will scoff at and then give me a quick answer. For those of you that are attending, make sure you have a list and we can pepper Glenn with more questions. I am not looking to reinvent the wheel, I just want to have alternate methods of solving issues that come up consistently.

Nice job Mark, worth a point.

Does anybody have a symbol for a round vent that attaches to the wall for a direct vent fireplace? You know, about 18" diameter.....

So my Buddy bought his laptops 8 years ago, I suggested he might want to upgrade to something a bit faster. I am looking for recommendations that I can pass on to him. He is looking for a PC laptop with a big screen that is faster than Usane Bolt and will run CA, any recommendations? Thanks Preferably something he can buy off the shelf.

...... I would give it less time. -
Thanks Glenn. Yes, I will coordinate the GTM.... and if there are any other Minions other than myself who would like to sit in, they can send me their email at dscotthall@mac.com and I will send them an invite. I plan on having a list of peccadilloes that I am hoping Glenn can answer in about 3.23 seconds per question. I hope this is rapid fire question and answer...... but it won't be, it is never that easy. Attendees to date: Glenn Woodward, DSH, A.L. (The funniest man on this site), The Slab Man, Chopsaw, Ray "The Fireman", Rich (the second funniest man on this site), David Zawadzki, Charles Volz, Larry Hawes, Tom Pehlke, Richard Martin, Adam Gibson, Mo G., Charlie Rea, Isaac Nelson,
