  1. I would then take the little wall that Eric created and put it on floor (attic) above so it would not show in the second floor.
  2. see if this helps... plan is X13 dormer exercise 1.plan dormer exercise 1.plan
  3. I tried the PLAN FOOTPRINT tool in another life and there were severe limitations (or I did not know how to use it). When CA gave us the ability to use ref sets and multiple ref sets, the plan footprint tool seems obsolete. I think the only advantage of the plan footprint tool is you can rotate the site plan without rotating the plan itself..... which is nice but somehow I have not needed that functionality....
  4. That is great Joe. I am still surprised CA does not have that in the program. For those newer folks out there, both Joe and The Alaskan Son have their own methods of figuring out these values and they are a god send. I believe Joe uses layers and Perry loves the system. I use Michaels' and I love his method (because I know it now). If any of you guys out there need this functionality, the two guys Mentioned above are the go to guys.
  5. It can be up to many meters off……. Not worth trying
  6. Who is that guy flying?
  7. I am not kidding, he doesn't fly. Maybe he drove, I forgot.
  8. How did Perry get up there? He doesn't fly.
  9. Hmmmmm....... it is now in my calendar...... Coeur d'Alene is so beautiful that time of year...... I hear there is a golf course on the lake ...... Dermot, would you mind starting the classes extra early so we can be out by 1:00 to play golf?
  10. that is the best way,
  11. As Michael said, only one wall should be defined as no room def.
  12. WEll.... I have found the most efficient and fastest way is to relink the file to layout. Yeah, ain't that a pistol. BTW, I never use the PB.
  13. since we are on the subject., I though we could put a 6' hi railing on a 3' hi railing (if they are both defined as no room def.). and it would look like a pony wall... but we can't.

    Mystery

I vaguely remember this also. I think/thought it was fixed.
  15. yep, min 6" deep at any point and a minimum of 10" wide 12" in from edge (the walk line)
  16. Glenn, are those panels or a pony wall?
  17. Hello…hello…. This has bugged me too, we have done workshops on this and we couldn’t come up with a solution. I had a need for a pony wall following the terrain just today and it was a no go, Why can’t this be fixed. I know, I should make a request in the suggestions forum…. I have done that…. I hear you Harry, such a sim0le request….. back to Judge Judy.
  18. I usually do submit feature requests. I think I submitted a request 10 years ago for this particular feature? I forget now. Joe did submit a feature request on this the other day. No worries, you guys have done a super job with so many other feature, this is a small hiccup.
  19. It is really nutty of CA not to of fixed this by now. Who would want their top and bottom plates covered up by a wall fill. I think I complained about this back in '63, but I was ignored. My wife ignores me too, but tonight I am taking her out for Pakistani food and she is excited...... she like me, she really likes me.
  20. Hi Glenn, I have thought of this, but it creates it's own issues. I actually tried a wood grain fill at one time, but for some reason that was a mess. The big deal is it covers up thetas and bottom plates. It might be okay if the fill was there, in fact it could be desirable since now the fill will also define whether the wall is existing or new in section view as well as plan view. That is the answer! Leave the fill in but put it behind the top and bottom plates.... in fact, maybe it would be nice if the exterior wall not only showed the insulation but the wall fill also. As it is now, either you get the fill or the insulation, maybe we want both. Hey CA, please fix this during your coffee break today. Thank You.
  21. Does anybody like the wall fill when we auto detail sections?
  22. That is awesome Kevin!!! I am on a MAC. Can anybody out there on a MAC do the same quality of work as Kevin? If so, I want to hire you to show me how to do it. Seriously, can anybody out there help me do what Kevin does? If you can, please post a rendering From a MAC and then let's talk Thanks you can email me if you would like.
  23. Yep, I do pretty much the same thing. My point of the thread was I did not realize by relinking a plan even if already linked, the elevations are updated in an instant. iow, this method is much faster than hitting the UPDATE ALL ELEVATIONS button which takes longer. thanks Rene.
