  4. Here is one I did recently. The box is the area, the other numbers are auto, IOW, the result tells you how many vents you need, NOT THE NUMBER YOU USED. vent area calc plan.plan
  5. yea, I think that is what I did eons ago and I don't have issues.... it's when I am starting anew......
  6. Yeah, 8 don’t get 5his either. I had notnotic3 this before X11. I wonder what changed. I am writing this on an iPad , a subtle move of mythping and differen5 letters show up....but I bet you can still read what I am saying.
  7. Yep, me too, I am on a MAC, are you using a MAC?
  8. Yeah, skip the intro music, but I do like your vids..... much appreciated.
  9. IOW, are there other hidden features that can be VIEW SPECIFIC as Michael has noted.
  10. Wow P., great find, I too never knew this. BTW, I wonder if this applies for other defaults...... i.e. whether in one view the framing will show as lines and in another they show as lumber..... I bet that is the case..... nice job P.
  11. Eric, I think I did it. It is a combination of the CEILING SHELF for hearth and the FLOOR at second floor for fireplace and ....... I needed to be careful with too many layers. (take a look at the extra hearths and how some are good and some aren't. Thanks for the help. life is good again! LEO PLAN 5J junk FOR CT A all good for eric.plan
  12. Now why didn't I think of that?.... nice job...... I think.... I haven't tried it yet but it should work I had a play with the stuff many years ago..... it is a powerful trick..... and that new floor can be on level 5 if need be...... nuts.... I should get into this some more, thanks Eric.
  13. Now why didn't I think of that?.... nice job...... I think.... I haven't tried it yet but it should work
  14. I did spend a lot of time trying to do this with walls, it would of been much faster with PSOLIDS like you suggested. If the SHELF CEILING worked as sat think it should, it would be quicker for me , plus any section thru would show the framing materials.... also IF I used material lists, this material would be included. No worries though, I am moving on.
  15. I could not get any of those methods to work.
  16. model it like build it... it is not an experiment
  17. I suppose the solution for me would be able to use this SHELF CEILING tool and it would work whether is was under a roof or not under a roof.
  18. Hey Eric, your solution is probably the best, however you did change the default height of a wall and I wish you did not have to move my layers.... I think CA can do a better job with this.....
  19. Okay, but suppose I wanted a SLOPE CEILING on the roof thanks Eric, would you post your plan?
  20. Thanks Kevin, but still a few issues.
  21. See figure. I cannot achieve what I want. I think there is a bug in the program. If you can take my plan and give me what I need, please post plan. thanks LEO PLAN 5J junk FOR CT A.plan
  22. I could not tell if you relinked to files to the layout... if you did... you win..... BTW, I think you misspeled "excepted/accepted"..... hmmmm, if feels like a goof off Friday.
  23. If speed is the goal, I bet I can do it faster than that. I challenge you to a RELINK RACE. BTW, I have a MAC and I do not use windows explorer.... different strokes....... Well, I just gave it a go, I took a layout with 2 files in it, and used the save as and relinked the two files back to the new layout. 3 minutes 16 seconds...... if I take out the time it took for CA to do the relinking, I could of done it in 1:10. It sure is taking A LOT MORE TIME to relink files back to layout.... much faster sin X-10. Hey CA, please fix this, thank you.
  24. that is the answer, a save as does create a new plan but you do have to relink to the new layout.
  25. I went to the apple store, bought an IMAC Pro, set it up in the store, through a large file on it, I did not notice an improvement over my latest IMAC. I returned the computer while I was still in the store.
