  1. I used a PC for seven years, been using IMAC for two years. PC was great, MAC took a couple of months to get comfortable with. Love the MAC now. CA will run great on both computers. Get the latest IMAC and you should be good to go. The power Mac Is not worth it. Just get the latest Imac with all the goodies.
  2. Dog gone you, I was hoping you would let me of the hook....... I can't think of anything but repeat copy....... Okay, maybe in X7 they will have something where we can match properties..... .... if anybody can think of another purpose for the STICKY TOOL other than repeat copy, please let us know.
  3. LOL..... don't ask me to tag along.
  4. That is a good point..... I am thinking of how I would use it other than for REPEATED COPIES....... hmmm... not sure if i can come up with an alternative usage........ dog gone you michaelgia, I am stumped...... give me a couple of minutes to think about this......
  5. Yeah, I get it, heck fire, I think where I am at, I can probably come up with at least 3 different definitions of height above grade depending on the jurisdiction.
  6. I do not think you know what you are doing. First off, I do not think you can turn a WALL into a PSOLID, next, if you are drawing the PSOLID in plan, and then taking a back clip cross section of said PSOLID and the creating a PSOLID, that will not work either. My suggestion would be to create a wall and then put either DOORS or PASS THRUS into said wall.
  7. CA has this, it is called STICKY MODE, it is a repeat edit tool.
  8. Are you kidding me ? This is a super idea. What you are asking for is object elevation above the floor it is on as well as absolute elevation...... Similar to what we have in structure dbx, (ceiling ht. from the floor it is on and absolute ceiling height)" Why don't you put this in suggestions?
  9. Jim, come to Cali and I will teach you all sorts of funky things.
  10. You might be correct, must go now, will confirm in the AM
  11. Aha, Robert, you are dragging the wall at LEVEL ONE up and down, I agree, it is behaving well, try dragging the top of the FOUNDATION WALL at LEVEL ZERO up and down, you might get a different result.
  12. Whoa Buddy, are you sure? I just tried it on the 8 CRESTVIEW DRIVE PLAN that was posted and I lost the sill plate. Robert, do me a favor and change the heights as I described and post the plan, I would love to see it. My sill plate and exterior finish DOES NOT build correctly, I have attached my plan where it does not rebuild, check it out and let me know, thanks.
  13. Now here is one for you Robert.... and this behavior ticks me off..... once it is building correctly, grab a foundation wall and drag it down 24". Now drag it back up 24"....... not the wall height is no longer listed as a DEFAULT WALL HT in the WALL SPEC<STRUCTURE<DEFAULT WALL HEIGHT,.. however we both know you put it back in it's original height location.... however, know the sill plate is no longer there and the SIDING/EXTERIOR FINISH does not cover what was once the sill plate. A bit aggravating..... so why even adjust this height? If you want to define the wall as a TERRAIN RETAINING WALL and you do not want the top of wall to FOLLOW THE TOP OF GRADE. What is the solution? Do not adjust wall height, do not call it a TERRAIN RETAINING WALL, instead use a TERRAIN BREAK to define the break in terrain.......
  14. Nice job Robert, that was worth a point.... nice job!
  15. Not so, Imagine a terrain that has dips and rises and you have a model with hips and gables and different plate heights at different areas.... I think Timmy is being quite clever in determining if any point of house exceeds the 30' height limitation at any point directly below any point of house.
  16. I think you just confirmed what I have been saying, sometimes it works, sometimes not..... I wonder if it has to do with the order in which you turn the layers on and off........ I a so #%%##^&^ sick of trying to figure out this %&%$%, I am just pissed off....... come on CA..... listen to us and please fix this crap.....
  17. It works this morning...... FLOOR SURFACES on ROOMS off
  18. Sometimes it works and other times it does not seem to work.... that is the mystery
  19. I disagree and this post is confusing
  20. I disagree with the previous answers, the easiest way is to select the wall, open dvx, MATERIALS<INTERIOR WALLS SURFACE, and change the INTERIOR WALL SURFACE to your glass material. Also change the EXTERIOR WALL SURFACE to glass.... all will be well. This technique will override whatever color you have painted the room. The other methods will work, but this is the best and easiest solution.
  21. Believe it or not, The Bridge Troll knows what he is trying to do without a plan. Go to TERRAIN SPECIFICATION<GENERAL<BULDING PAD and change that number in the box by 30'...... either positive or negative, you figure it out, this will now hide your building if you do not exceed the 30' height limit. If you house is over 30' above grade, you will see it sticking out of the terrain. A very clever usage to determine if the house exceeds the maximum height limit
  22. Alan, looked at your pic, I would CHECK the SHOW START AND END INDICATORS and I would change to SELECT CONTAINED (NOT INTERSECTED)..... just a thought...... it's funny, sometimes I find it helpful to review these settings that I may of set up 7 years ago because my method of working has changed......
  23. Thanks Lew, you are correct, since that is the case, I suppose I would prefer to use PARALLELS which does not require a reboot, and I would use PARALLELS with GARAGE DOOR WIZARD if that was possible.
