  1. P., I just emailed Kerry, the guy that wrote the program, I wonder if he will email me back. He wrote the program back in 2001. I wonder if I can put it on my MAC with parallels. It is such a pain in the a** to have to got out of CA on the MAC to fire up the program on the PC that I don't use it as much as I should. Bootcamp comes with the MAC but I have not installed it..... I am afraid of the ramifications. Has any MAC user put the free BOOTCAMP on their MAC? If I can put BOOTCAMP on the mac, I can then have X5 open on the MAC, all the time to utilize GARAGE DOOR WIZARD, but still have X6 open on the MAC, and then when X7 is available, I can have X6 open in bootcamp and use X7 on the MAC side. But I may have to buy GARAGE DOOR WIZARD a second time to put it on the MAC.
  2. I think you are correct, maybe I should go ahead and delete them and see if they show up again. Did you see my recent post on GARAGE DOOR WIZARD? I think you also bought the program, I can't believe CA has not somehow implemented something like this in their program. Their selection of garage doors are very limited in CA..... maybe they should buy the program from Kerry and hook it up to CA. Garage Door Wizard has been a god send for me. Problem now is it only runs on a PC and I am on a MAC..... I have a feeling I will never be able to get rid of my PC. Why can't I get rid of the PC? I cannot get rid of PC because: -need to print PDF's on PC (if I print on MAC the PDF is too large to email........ I think with Yosemite, this problem may have been fixed, I will see soon enough -Need to be able to use garage door wizard...... I know.... I can use parallels or boot camp but sounds like a lot of work -To access SAN DIEGO COUNTY GIS PROGRAM, it only works with INTERNET EXPLORER, how lame is that?
  3. This guy does not get enough credit. I bought this program about 9 years ago for 25.00, best 25.00 I ever spent. Here is the link I got this from. http://www.chieftalk.com/showthread.php?15516-New-ChiefWare-Garage-Door-Wizard New ChiefWare Garage Door WizardI just wanted to let everyone know that I have created a new Windows program that allows you to easily create garage doors for Chief Architect. For more information about it please click here: http://www.chiefware.com/LibGar1_.htm To see a video of it in action and how it works with Chief Architect (this requires Flash to be installed and speakers for you to hear it) please click here: http://www.chiefware.com/GDWiz.html Or for a tutorial on how to use it: http://www.chiefware.com/gdwizhowto.htm I replaced the Garage Door 1 Library that I was selling with this as it makes creating the garage doors MUCH easier. If you are an existing customer, you are entitled to get this at a discount. I sent emails to all my existing customers, but about 1/4 of the messages got bounced back. So if you are an existing customer, please email me (Kerry@ChiefWare.com). Note: This currently only works in inches. I've had a request for Metric that I hope to build into the program soon. The program is only of value if you have versions of Chief Architect that allow you to import AutoCAD DWG files. One advantage to this program over the library it replaces is that the garage doors now appear correctly in the materials list. Thanks, Kerry Francis ChiefWare
  4. Great question, let's see if someone else can help me out here....... let's see if we can name all the layers that don't always have a check mark in the DISPLAY BOX: -CEILING BREAK LINES (already mentioned) -FOUNDATION (definitely a mystery layer) ...... there must me others but they escape me right now......... .... here are two more "mystery layers" that I have not fully understood: -ROOMS -FLOOR SURFACES A couple more mystery layers: -"0" (I am sure there is a reason for this otherwise it would not be there..... but I have not figured it out) - DEFPOINTS (I have never understood this layer)
  5. Thanks for the link Lew, this looks a bit interesting...... not for me but for my clients...... one day when I feel comfortable with CA's material lists, I will use CA's material list for my clients..... just not quite comfortable with CA's material list yet.
  6. ¥es, if the pdf is an image of the take off sheet..... just goofing with ya..... JC is correct of course, a PDF is just a picture.
  7. Thanks Randy, I will check it out when I have time.......
  8. Yeah, so what, what the heck is wrong with my system...... Dawn the Time Warner lady said something about by passing my modem to get better speed..... I wonder if .... if..... if.... I wonder if somehow my decimal point is in the wrong location..... such a huge disparity between my system and everybody else's.
  9. Thanks Greg, I was going to wait a couple of days before I went through this. Did you watch the on line meeting yesterday morning 10:00 am pst? I watched, some awesome stuff...... it's like apple has just about finished putting all the different devices together seamlessly. I am excited about Yosemite. The new IMACs seem to be about 4 times faster? Did I understand this correctly? Holy Moly. I would be interested in knowing if CA has tested out the new IMAC to check out the speed difference..... I doubt they have checked out the new ones yet because I do not believe they ship until today or tomorrow.
  10. Texture and pattern are two different things. It is behaving as expected. You must now go into texture and change the aspect ration of the texture....
  11. I'm with Perry on this. I have given up with the arrows. I just don't get it. Not a super big problem, but if I am not careful, arrows move.... I don't like it. Quite frankly, I am not sure if I ever want the arrows to move, because when they do, the beginning of a 2 legged arrow does not stay parallel to bottom of page and it's all mucked up anyway. Someone needs to make these arrows easier to work with for us nit wits.
  12. My most recent internet speed after increasing my cable costs by 5.00/month. It seems like the download speed went from 3.1 to 7.5 or there abouts, and the upload speed went from 0.7 to 0.8. Still no where near what some of you guys have. Dawn the internet lady said something about having a router in the system, which I do, and this may effect the speed......... OF COURSE I HAVE TO HAVE A ROUTER BECAUSE I NEED A PC TO PRINT MY FLIPPIN PDF"S. If the only thing I have to complain about is my internet speed, then life ain't half bad.
  13. Yeah, I was thinking too simply. It would be great if the psolids etc. had the option to be tied to F.F, Terrain Elev. or 0.0 elevation. Yeah, I was thinking rectangles, not curved stuff.
  14. CC, here is your problem, and I had this problem until recently. DON'T BUILD THEM OUT OF PSOLIDS. Build them out of cabinets and cabinet partitions. Those items ARE tied to the F.F. of the house. Give it a try, you will be slapping the top of your head yelling, "and I could had a V-8!"
  15. I think you are doing something wrong... I guarantee you are doing something wrong. The FFH DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A SEA LEVEL. If you want, post a small plan with a terrain, a building at 10' above sea level, and put in two psolids, one in the house and one out of the house, open their two dvx and set the height at 48", if they are not 48" above the FFH and really 48" above sea level, post the plan and somebody will tell you what you are doing wrong.
  16. A door, many threads on this, many solutions, none perfect. I think the door solution is the best.
  17. Hi oldckd, (wish I had a name), anyway, for some reason I can't take a look at your material. Would you mind creating a small plan, put in some slabs, and paint the slabs with the material and post that. Thanks a ton, I am interested in what you did. I looked in my library and I did not see the material.
  18. michael, note the small letters, but thanks for the effort. I suppose if there is a solution, headquarters will let me know...... I think I will try 1-800-my-apple my-apple was no help..... I know CA is aware of this.... they say it is out of there hands.... I think they said it is in the hands of whoever set up their "tool kit" to do whatever...... still seeking a solution......... I think I will try Dear Abby......
  19. It seems to me there was a ready made tray divider symbol in a cabinet specialty library. I could be wrong.
  20. I just love to hear what Mumbles has to say, thanks Alan for the levity.
  21. And if I can say one more thing at the risk of having tomatoes thrown at me, I have learned more from solving newbies questions than I have learned from power users. It's just that it sometimes takes a little bit more of an effort to extract the information needed to actually learn something new. How about them Cowboys? And how about them Chargers...... I sure am glad I don't live in Alaska where they don't even have a team....... Or LA for that matter........ Sorry P.
  22. I agree with this 100%. Not only are we trying to help out the OP, we are also trying to learn something. Is it user error? Is it a bug? Is this an issue that we have never seen but a situation we can solve and learn from? While it is great you may have given the OP a place to start (BTW, he stated a non defined room was was not the case), I think we have all seen threads that go on and on, and since some of us monitor all posts, it becomes more of a burden for us. I don't know what the answer is...... maybe the answer is to simply ignore any posts that do not come with a plan....... and while this is a viable approach, it really helps no one. So I have decided to suffer through these posts that go on and on in the hopes that one day the world will be at peace, we will have no more wars, no more famine and no more questions without plans attached.
