I see it just the other way around. The more value the more there is to discuss and explain.

Hi All, A friend emailed me and said, "it's been a long time, let's have a workshop and get educamated" , so I said okay. If you are interested please please please please please send me an email. dscotthall@macDOTcom please do not RSVP in this thread, just an email It will be this Friday. 8/14/2020 at 2:00 pst. Topic is up in the air. I think my friend was inspired by the SPV discussion. Whatever, something new always pops up. Everybody is welcome. By the way, it will be a GOTOMEETING hosted by me unless my friend insists on hosting it using ZOOM. He and I will fight over the honor.

I can't think of an example to dispute your statement that a FRAMING LAYER SET might work for different levels, or a FLOOR PLAN LAYER SET may work for different levels. I have unique LAYER SETS for each level because it hurts my head thinking about the exceptions. I also have unique ref sets for each PVS for the same reason.

Well....... if Steve Nestor doesn't do a vid, I will volunteer. Steve, let me know if you want to do it.... or if somebody else will do it...... ...... this is my final warning, if you guys won't do it, I will.

Oh boy, this one is in my wheelhouse..... if I can only answer before Alaskan Son does...... define the dropped ceiling in the ceiling tab.... you want a 10" dropped ceiling, give 6" of airspace under floor joists and then 3-1/2" ceiling joists and then 1/2" drywall. Easy Peasy

Thanks Racklamore...... I swear, every time I see rlackoe I think of Racklamore, isn't that weird? I appreciate the garage doors.

Maybe, or after turning off auto framing he adjusted the floor height which is essentially what you are saying.

thanks for posting Glenn. I think I learned something. You used two terrain regions. A blue one and a red one. I was playing with the blue terrain region doing two tests test 1 the blue region was higher than red region test 2 the blue region was lower than the red region. The blue region controlled the red region. The question is when will the red region control the blue region.

It looks like it is in line with the roof returns. If you deleted the roof returns, would you get the entire soffit or no soffit. I wonder if you built those return manually if it would fix or vice versa. Hmmm. its looks like you do not have a BOXED SOFFIT spec'd for the roof returns or the eaves. You could post the plan and let someone look at it.

I think he wants the prefix to designate the different disciplines, i.e., A,S,M,E,P That should be able to be done by using 5 different Template Pages

If the wall is 20' long, 10' has to be open I can't wait until PLANNING chips in...
-
not perfect. Perry might be able to help - no BOXED eaves -copy wall and put it. on upper level (that will get the interior finish to ALMOST get as high as roof sheathing CHF_Beacham_Shambaugh_REMODEL_07-15-20-2 fixed. kjbju.plan

post the plan

I wouldn't of guessed this 50% on each side. Planning need to approve also. Respectfully, Isam Hasenin, P.E., CBO President True North Compliance Services, Inc. Solana Beach | Alhambra | Redwood City P: (626) 660-6292

I doubt you have a soffit. No soffit means the rafters are the fascia color. But you are lucky.... by putting in a soffit....... very very small with opening no material selected, you will get the rafters the color you want and I think the exterior wall will frame up to the sheathing. If that does not work for you, create the exposed rafters out of soffits or psolids.

Yes, I have calls and emails into the city and the private plan review service, chief talk, the president, my Mom and my 6 year old grand daughter. Nobody is returning my call.....

A Garage is considered a carport when it is open on 2 sides. How open does a wall need to be open to be considered open? Isn't it 70% I am referring to CRC R309.2. But it does not define what "open" is. Does anybody know?

You need to edit your rafter framing material, see pic
-
Your framing material is not a framing material. Change your rafters to a framing material.
-
If you do not have a soffit, the rafters assume the color of your fascia. Put a soffit at your eaves and I would bet your rafters will be a fir framing material.
