  1. I doubt you have a soffit. No soffit means the rafters are the fascia color. But you are lucky.... by putting in a soffit....... very very small with opening no material selected, you will get the rafters the color you want and I think the exterior wall will frame up to the sheathing. If that does not work for you, create the exposed rafters out of soffits or psolids.
  2. Yes, I have calls and emails into the city and the private plan review service, chief talk, the president, my Mom and my 6 year old grand daughter. Nobody is returning my call.....
  3. A Garage is considered a carport when it is open on 2 sides. How open does a wall need to be open to be considered open? Isn't it 70% I am referring to CRC R309.2. But it does not define what "open" is. Does anybody know?
  4. You need to edit your rafter framing material, see pic
  5. Your framing material is not a framing material. Change your rafters to a framing material.
  6. If you do not have a soffit, the rafters assume the color of your fascia. Put a soffit at your eaves and I would bet your rafters will be a fir framing material.
  7. BTW, if you can wait about 5. hours, Glenn should be rising out of bed from his beach view Manse in Northern Sydney Australia where the rich and famous lives and he can probably set us all straight.
  8. Do you understand the following statement? Below is an example. For CABINET hot keys I use a 2 stroke hot key starting with a "C". If I want to use a single keystroke of a "C" I get the following message. IOW, if I want to use a single stroke hot key, the keystroke cannot be used to begin a multiple hot key operation. The above statement is the key to understanding hotkey options.
  9. BTW, you cannot use SPACE BAR,C. as a hot key, but you can use C,SPACE BAR as a hot key.
  10. If I am not mistaken you can have one key, two key, three key and 4 key short cuts. Every single key can be a single hot key...... EXCEPT a key YOU CHOSE that is the key that will tell CA the hot key sequence will be a two key hot key..... similar to you SPACE BAR key. CA's method is even better because you do not need to hit the space bar for a single stroke hot key.. Back in the day all hot keys were single stroke. And then the Great Glenn Woodward advocated for multiple key hot keys. We finally got them a few years ago. "This does not preclude you from have shortcuts like "AA", "AAA", "AAB", "AAC", "ABB"." The above bold statement is not correct. You can not have the AA if you want the AAA and AAB. Think about it.... how would CA know that after you type in AA you that another keystroke is next. Below is an example. For CABINET hot keys I use a 2 stroke hot key starting with a "C". If I want to use a single keystroke of a "C" I get the following message. IOW, if I want to use a single stroke hot key, the keystroke cannot be used to begin a multiple hot key operation. So to restate the point of the post, you can have a single stroke hot WITHOUT using the space bar as a select key which in effect makes CA's hot key method better than the ACAD method. Glenn, please correct me if I am mistaken.
  11. Yep, we spec out 2x14's here also. Especially for stair stringers. Give us a few years and our stair stringers will be 2x18's.
  12. hmmm, I wonder if they fixed that or my memory is failing me, good to know, thx
  13. You cannot use a CIRCLE. Convert the circle to a POLYLINE and then it will work.
  14. Eric solution is the easiest, my solution (room with no floor) is better if you want railings around the hole. Thanks Eric, I should of know that...... however another downside to your method is it looks like the deck framing ignores the fact there is hole. (I see a girder in the hole to the bottom left.
  15. create a deck within the deck and define it without a floor.
  16. Nuts, this defeats the purpose of the "live" ref sets. If someone wants to dimension the fixtures, dimension on the floor plan with dimensions on their own layer and then turn that layer on in the ref set for viewing on the foundation plan. I use a similar method when dimensioning distance from first floor roof eaves to property lines when I am using the second level for the roof plan sent to layout setup. I remember the CAD FROM VIEW trick from back in 2005, crazy stuff, that is what led up to truly usable ref sets that we did not have until X3.
  17. Ain't you the clever one. Nice job Larry!
  18. Eric, before I make the change, this is how mine is setup. Not sure why mine is deferent from your. What should I do?
  19. Hi all, I have seen it before, rarely use it, now I can't find it.....Waterfall Countertop.... where is it?
  20. if you had a granddaughter you would be cool like me.
  21. You can change the color line style etc of all ref layers. You can not change direction of the arrow.
  22. I know, that is why I have them in cad details in the plan file and they are then sent to layout. I have a macro for all of my consultants in the plan and they are linked to a cad detail which has already been sent to layout because of the template I use..... easy peasy lemon squeazy.
  23. I enter the client info in both the plan and layout. It depends on how one has their info setup. In fact I think it makes more sense to have the info into the plan instead of the layout. Both ways work.... options, options, options..... don't you love them.
  24. Yep, a cleaner look on the inside.
