  1. Is that a 16:9 aspect ratio because that may also be a factor and not just the resolution ?
  2. Ouch... Lets try and do it correctly first please. Just because surveyors do it that way is not an excuse. They don't think anyone checks or uses their work for anything important. What happens when you need an accurate measurement from a point that is not accurately placed ? Please post your plan file with the specifications you are trying to achieve and we can better advise the best practice.
  3. You may need to set your cad lines to not auto connect. Not every survey will actually connect unless it was drawn out on paper and then spiked into the ground. There are acceptable tolerances that are allowed and numbers often get rounded off so it does not actually work perfectly on paper/cad.
  4. No reason why there could not be a setting in Preferences to auto refresh all Rich Text boxes upon opening the plan file if there is not a more elegant way of fixing it for those that have the plaguing issue.
  5. Do you have two computers or two monitors of a different resolution ? No one should have to eliminate Rich Text but it needs to be reported to Chief Architect until it gets fixed or explained as to why it can not be fixed.
  6. Lots of different way to do that sort of thing. There is an automatic Living Area Label that is generated for each floor that you can turn on in General Plan Defaults. There is the option to turn on an area label for each room for Interior Area or Standard Area. You can manually or automatically create polylines that will tell you the area or display it with a label.
  7. If you don't get an answer here check with a local surveyor but generally as Google says: "As a homeowner, you can view the property survey records by visiting your official county recorder or assessor's office or website, which should have public maps for all of the real estate in the area." This may be a good place to start: https://tnmap.tn.gov/assessment/
  8. It keeps your plan view clear which can be helpful or sometimes not so much if you are verifying the content of the schedule unless you do a split screen. Also it can help with performance. Possibly other things that will be added if I missed anything.
  9. No I used macro's so it works automatically. See if you can set it up based on what I did since it is all really the same thing.
  10. It would be extra work but if you see the value in having a reference marker or callout for the revisions then that is likely the way to go. Yes put as many preformatted custom schedules in your template file as you like.
  11. If you want to post the plan file I will see if there is something obvious causing that to happen. I just can't think of it off hand but I can compare to my test plan and something my become evident.
  12. That is not typically what happens although it can most likely be fixed with the Edit Wall Layer Intersections tool. Actually I am not quite sure how that happened if it was auto built. Are the intersecting walls defined the same way ?
  13. It sounds and looks like you have lost your porch room definition by shortening the wrong wall. Most likely you just need to move the opposing wall thereby shortening the wall you need shortened and that will maintain your room definition and keep the floor etc. If that is not it you may want to let us know what version you are using and post the plan file with a few notes.
  14. It may work better to copy and paste the Word document into chief as text rather than importing the PDF version of it.
  15. It should work fine as long as the link has not been shortened. It is a Standard Text feature that works within the software but can also function in the resulting PDF if you use the full URL link.
  16. Have you tried printing it to PDF ? If it is a full URL link the text will be recognized by Adobe and the link will be maintained. Otherwise you can create a text link in chief or do you want to be able to link to the file from your plan or layout file ?
  17. I think I am missing something here. Could you elaborate on your process of "change back" ? You can assign one default "Ceiling" Light chosen from the library.
  18. Yes apply it to the symbol and then resave to your library if it looks good.
  19. Can you zip the file or just quickly create a test fie with one room and the fixtures. Other options are to upload to your cloud account an post the link here to download. Whatever layer you put the text on if that is what happened. Maybe use the "All On Layerset " to test that theory. Yes the proper way is to add the required text to the 2d cad block so such things are not so likely to happen.
  20. You would need to post a sample plan with the fixtures in it. It almost sounds like the R is part of the 2d cad block and the 4 has been inserted as text and the text layer was turned off but it is hard to know for sure if that is not the explanation.
  21. Are you exporting from a 3D view ?
  22. That would be amazing but I don't think Chief has any intention of getting into that. However I agree that users should be able to set local code requirements in defaults or personal preferences above or below code.
  23. Unfortunately Yes that is usually the way it works unless you are always drawing townhouses in the city. I think you could also reproduce the issue with a super-wide rambling ranch design that was maybe 10-12 thousand square feet or a commercial build. I bet that last project that @ShaneK did would have been an issue if it used plot lines with color fill. Here is a more recent example with a link back to an older thread as well but there are many others buried in the forum to be found.
