Just thinking that the software might be able to do it without a user macro for simplicity and consistency. If you need some sort of little macro for everything you do that is a lot of macro's to keep track of without any sort of indexing system. Perhaps but can you think of any way to access even a hard-coded default unit that is an Area or Volume in the program aside from the new Measurement Class system ? I don't think so. I would like to be proven wrong of course, but I think it only "stylizes" the existing hard-coded default units.

Give this a try: %(room.internal_area/35).round% The issue being that %room.area.internal% is a "Global Macro" that is not passed through Ruby. So no calculations can be preformed on that type of macro, but fortunately there is an equivalent NVP that gives the same value and can be used to do further calculations. %(room.internal_area%

Has anyone had any luck or experience with adding Custom Unit Conversions for Area to Preferences and using them in the software? I am hoping I am wrong but there does not seem to be any way of accessing this information in any other part of the program. Bad day perhaps. However reading in the Ruby section of the Help File it seems to suggest that Custom Unit Conversions are supported by the Measurement Class. So something like this should work ? %area.to_acre% or perhaps %area.to_sq_acre% Maybe I need to put acre in as a "Length" measurement like feet or meters so the software can do the math and "sq" it ? I called tech support and put in a request that acres and hectares be added to the hard-coded default units but that was all the help they could offer. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Your question is not clear but "Reset Message Boxes" perhaps ?
-
It may be this so tech support might be happy to hear from you to get your details.
-
Not sure I have ever heard of a situation like that before so not quite sure what to suggest other than possibly a system reboot. Possibly someone else may have a suggestion. Unless it is something simple like the batteries running low in your mouse. Otherwise please give tech support a call in the morning.

It looks as though you will have difficulty getting that 3080 back from your son. So you won't be able to take advantage of the latest rendering engine in X13. However there are lots of improvements in X12 that you will be able to take advantage of and it will keep you current. There are some major changes in Ruby for X12 so you will need to read up on that if you use a lot of macro's.

Could you expand on that a little more ? By "functions" do you mean that you are unable to select any tools from the toolbar ? Do you get any sort of error message ?

Curved roof mates when selected but does not in views

Try selecting the "thing" sticking through the roof and see if you can identify it or use the delete surfaces tool to see what it is. -
multi ceiling height garage causing siding issue
Chopsaw replied to armfx89's topic in General Q & A
I messed around with if for quite a while but essentially the upper walls are all set to "Roof Cuts Wall at Bottom" and in order for that to work there needs to be a roof plane under the wall to support it. This allows the Garage to be all one room. However I did not really take the time to analyze how it would all be structurally supported which may change some of the way the ceiling is shaped depending on the members required. Someone who I think builds this style frequently is @Michael_Gia and may be able to comment on that part of it. -
Yes walls can not overlap even on different layers. You may wan to explain a little more abut what the objective is and someone may have as solution. If you change the order in which you draw them it may be workable for your situation.

You may want to give it a try on another system just to be sure it is not a hardware configuration issue. Otherwise I think your setup should handle a standard render walkthrough. What is your surface count in the Layerset you are using ? Other options are Twinmotion and Lumion if it does not work out in Chief.

Sounds like you may be referring to "Temporary Dimensions" tool usually found by default on the right toolbar. Make sure it it on as shown.

Have a look and see if this works for you. Take a look at all the associated roof and wall settings and see if you can reproduce it in your file. house chopped.plan -
I am quite certain he knows. If not he knows how to contact me. It is something that should not be in the manual so certainly should not be posted here as well.

Rob, Change your " Site Plan Dimensions " default to " Distance Rounding " and I think you will be much happier and get the results you are expecting more consistently. Personally I would add the " Unit Indicators " to your cad line Displayed Line Length defaults in this situation but that is up to you.
-
Dermot, I think there is something in the manual that really needs to be clarified that causes people to think that Distance Rounding should not be used in light of our recent awareness of this topic. Could you please see that this is addressed. Thank you.

Pretty sure you have my email if you want to send it privately or PM me.

Also it is pretty standard to show three decimal places on a metric survey for accuracy and it also helps to differentiate from imperial measure which is standardized at two decimal places, especially if you are not showing units.
-
There are a few things to check when you need to be nuts on accurate without displaying 13 decimal places. First are your lines that you are dimensioning perfectly parallel ? I have been noticing that chief is fast and loose with the make parallel tool and it is always close but not always exact. Sometimes you even need to check the ruby results to be sure that it is. Second is that you need to be aware of your dimension defaults and know how Grid Rounding works in comparison to Distance Rounding. Most likely you will get the results you are expecting using a cad line with arrows and using the "Show Length" option as they always use Distance Rounding. Same for primarily single strand dimensions on cad details should use Distance Rounding in you dimension defaults or you could get some really unexpected results which could be quite costly if you do not notice. I am quite curious as to the exact nature of your specific situation if you care to paste that into a cad detail and post it unless you can sort it out from my posting as using text is a really bad habit to get into and should not be necessary.

You might be able to get something like this if you fiddle with a wall break and bring the upper fence over the terrain feature. As for the panel you will most likely need to draw one of those just the way you are going to build it. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02893/creating-custom-balusters-and-railing-panels.html

Did you check the recommendations for X13 before buying a brand new computer ?

It may help to post the hardware specifications of your old and new systems as it looks like it may be a video card or driver issue.
