From Page 0 Marquee select everything and go to Transform and Replicate and Resize by .9166 and be careful not to select the paper, by turning off the Drawing Sheet first, and then maybe you will only have to fix the left side borders manually.

Ok so maybe it is your Layout Drawing Sheet Setup that is causing the issue. From Layout go to File> Print> Drawing Sheet Setup.

You are printing from Layout right. So is it the layout sheet that you have set to ARCH D and plan to ANSI D ?

It kinda looks like that is the issue in the print preview. You might try bumping it by changing it to a different size say OK then open back up change it back again. Otherwise maybe tech support on Monday. Not sure what else it might be.

You have ARCH D selected not ANSI D. At least the print preview thinks that for some reason.

Thanks Michael, That works after I added the Rotate/Resize About Current Point tool to my Layout toolbar. Seems like quite a bit of extra effort for such a common thing. I might even be willing to give up the new features for camera views. I will have to see if I find a use for them.

To summarize there are three ways to do the same thing that have been discussed so far: 1. Control or Shift select the layout box and use the single top edit handle to resize. 2. Use the Resize edit mode and one of the corner edit handles holding down the X key while dragging a corner. 3. Use the Concentric edit mode and one of the corner edit handles holding down the C key while dragging a corner. I think maybe we have lost the functionality we had in X9 of just anchoring one corner of the viewport and left clicking the opposite and then resizing it. This is horrible, what were they thinking ?

I would also be interested in symbols to be used in chief as well as a good source for this type of reproduction hardware. Thanks Rob.

If it is a minor glitch sometimes CTRL+X and then CTRL+ALT+V will fix something like that but if not you may have to post the plan file.

Sherry is currently working through some of those same issues and I am sure she would share what she has learned in exchange for the help of a whole room full of technologically versed teenagers that are eager to learn. You can control that from your Active Layer Display Options by selecting the Windows,Labels layer and changing the Text Style for that layer. Or from the Schedule DBX you can set it to use the Layer or a preset or a Custom text style.

So then it sounds like you will have a closed soffit. Also the 2x12 will be trimmed a little depending on the pitch. Likely could just get the truss company to gang nail an extra 2x6 under the tail of the top chord.

What size will the sub fascia be and what type of soffit ?

Yes as standards are that working drawings are printed to scale Chief tries to help you do that as annoying as it sometimes is. Maybe if you post your plan file someone with a copy of X5 will make you a quick video of the setup. I could show you in X6 but that may or may not be helpful.

Fit to paper is not to scale. Did Chief give you a warning message when you looked at the preview ?

Just make sure you get it sorted out before you need to print your construction drawings to scale.

Kirby I don't have a copy of X5 but if you can turn on your "Drawing Sheet [Alt + F3]" in plan view that will give you a good indication of what will fit on the paper size you have selected. With the Drawing Sheet turned on you can double click at the border of it to open the Drawing Sheet Setup DBX and find a scale that makes your drawing fit the paper or change the paper size as that in not critical unless you are printing to paper. Then make sure all that matches when you open the print preview screen.

Are you really trying to print at actual size ? Usually construction drawing are about 1/4" = 1' What version of Chief are you running Kirby ?

Chief Architect Save as PDF does almost always out preform the other options if you have a more recent version of Chief, as Jerry just said but that is not likely the cause of your current grief. Paper and scale sizes in print preview have to match what you have set for Drawing Sheet Setup in your plan view.

Bill, I think you can get what you want if you take the time to cad block individual cad line segments rather than using a line style. 2D cad blocks still need a lot of improvements but that should work for what you need for now.

My apologies Alan as I did not download your plan file because I am almost out of internet for the month, but if your Dimension Defaults are set to the Wall Dimension Layer it should be working for you the way your wall def is set up.

Alan, I know that has been requested many times but it is still not an option as far as I know unless you include the sheeting in your main layer or put a little cad line there to snap to or apply your siding as a wall material region or some other crazy workaround.
