  1. Ok sorry, Had to re read your post and it sounds like you may have opened the X8 file in X10 and now it will not open in X8. There should be a copy of the X8 file still in your Chief Architect Premier X10 Data > Archives Folder found normally in Doccuments.
  2. If you navigate to where you have the plan file stored and right click, does it give you the option of "Open With" or if you have several versions active you can turn on the Chief Architect Startup Options and it will keep track of a specified number of recent files for you. It would be nice if the software was smart enough to know that you have already upgraded as well as associating plan files with the version of the software they were created in unless manually overridden. Maybe some day.
  3. Does the Align With Wall Below tool help with the situation in image #2 ?
  4. How is it sitting on the 1st floor sub floor now? You may need to rebuild the upper level sub floor or align the walls with the lower level depending on how you have things set to rebuild. You could post the plan file if you get stuck and someone will take a look for you.
  5. The gap is where the sub floor sheeting would be, if you want to see it in your framing view turn on floor surfaces layer. The rimboard is sticking out because your wall framing is not set to Build Platform to the Exterior of the wall framing layer in the Wall definition. Hope that helps.
  6. That is the quick fix but it looks like in your situation you may need to increase the subfascia thickness of the roof plane to match the framing you will need to hold up that huge overhang.
  7. Ok something was really bothering me last time I looked at your file and I finally figured it out.... Could not quite place it at first but there was no option to frame your affected walls. Your "Fir Stud 16" OC" material used in your Interior-4.875 wall type is set to Area for the Material Type and this must be set to Framing. This was also set the same way in the default Interior-4 wall type so you may want to check through things carefully.
  8. Rob, No offence, but I think Mark is looking to export ( send ) a chief plan file to .dwg. Did you interpret it the other way as an import ? If so, then Yes you are correct, that would be quite a feat. Maybe someone with a little more Auto Cad experience could comment but I believe they work on everything in the same drawing space so it would be perfectly acceptable to send a file to them that way. Just lay everything out on a sheet of Arch E at whatever scale makes it all fit. It would not take all that long to do from an existing layout file with copy and paste. Just add a page and change the paper size and make the page template "None".
  9. Mark, I think I found a solution for you. Change the wall type to Interior-4 and you will still have the problem but hit undo and when the wall rebuilds it seems to fix the problem. Not sure why it works but if anyone else has some insight I sure would like to know. Strange that the same plan file behaves differently for different users. Possibly something in Preferences that is different ?
  10. Chris, Is that in X7 ? If so do you mind posting your video card model and driver version ? This is what I get and can't seem to find an issue with the plan file.
  11. I think you would have to send all that to a single page of layout and then create your .dwg file. There may be a better way but that should do the trick.
  12. No I don't believe so as it would be in the same menu location if it was available. Tools > Symbol > Convert to Symbol. Here is the HD Knowledge Base : https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/database.html It does look like you can import symbols so you could see if someone here would be willing to create one for you from your file.
  13. Here is a CA Knowledge Base Article : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00809/converting-an-object-into-a-symbol.html
  14. Do you have an image of what you are hoping for as a finished look ? I sometimes use a roof plane and just show the framing.
  15. There have been some issues with Nvidia drivers recently but I believe it has been more of an issue with the 900 series cards but it might be worth looking into. Mick has been on top of the issue and I believe his thread may have been a response to the library issue but would have to search back for that thread.
  16. Are you running a Nvidia Card as it may be related to your video driver. Please add to your signature and also update if you are now using X9.
  17. This is definitely not aerospace design software but that was a great demonstration of what Chief can do Michael. +1 = 0 ? Thanks.
  18. Any way if you want to give it a try be very careful to follow a safe procedure of maintaining the original files and if this is not the sort of thing you have done before make a complete copy of the file before editing the original and realize this is not likely anything tech support would suggest. This is the file path : C:\Program Files\Chief Architect\Chief Architect Premier X6 (64 bit)\resources\cursors What you need to do is navigate to this file and select a .png file and in a photo editor change the size from 32 x 32 to 64 x 64 and either make a complete backup file or change the existing file name and use the exact old file name for your enlarged cursor file in .png format. Then you will need to open the cursor_hotspost file and edit it to reflect the hot spot change in location for the larger file size. This is the part that was not responding properly for me on my 1080 monitor but may work fine with 4k. Please post back so others will know if you get it to work. Here is a quick example of a 64 x 64 if you want to give it a try. For this one you would change the hotspot to 32,32, representing X & Y from the top left.
  19. Interesting, I did not know that was an option, tried it at 2x and 4x with my 1080 monitors and could not see that anything changed.
  20. Yes I remember that one Mick, I think I have it worked out but do not have a 4k screen to test it on to see if the hotspot can be properly adjusted for each of the various cursors. Anyone willing to give it a try ?
  21. If I get some time on the weekend I will see if I can hack into X6 and find a solution for you. Not too worried if I make a mistake with my copy as I rarely use it anymore.
  22. In your Taskbar settings you can set it to "Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode" but that is not likely your issue. You just need to click that thing between the minimize and close buttons so that it shows two boxes rather than one and you should be reset. Not sure the proper name unless it is maximize.
  23. How do your tool bars look ? Are the icons quite small ? Maybe you could post a screen shot. Do you have SSA ? It might be possible to hack the icon files so it functions for you unless you are happy reducing your screen resolution to 1080.
  24. Sounds like you may have also bought a new higher resolution monitor ? Might be helpful to let us know what operating system you are now using and some of the critical details of your new computer in your signature so it is always visible when people are trying to help.
  25. Bill, Did you get a chance to read this ? https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00768/creating-a-pdf-document.html If there is anything you don't understand we will try our best to help. Just let us know exactly where you get stuck.
