  1. This is an old one but I don't believe there have been any other improvements in this aspect of the software since. I can't really tell exactly what is going on from your interior shot so if this does not work or does not apply let me know.
  2. Solid's ? I think I made a video a while back. Have you seen that one ?
  3. That could be reproduced but wow.... As Rene just said. It looks like a well done survey at first glance but you could likely save a lot of time by contacting the surveyor and getting the cad file and more importantly the elevation data. Let us know how it goes.
  4. There should be a way to fix that but it would be good to post your plan file for the best answer. Likely a wall or railing setting but it depends on how the model is built.
  5. Most of the issues you are seeing are typically caused by terrain data that is overlapping or too close causing a conflict for chief's method of terrain generation. Usually it can handle real world data that is properly recorded and inputted. Also the flatten pad setting can cause issues with data that is too close to the building. That being said you likely need to post the plan file for someone to be able to help unless you think you have patience to carefully make small adjustments and observe the results if you are making an improvement or making things worse.
  6. You are going to restrict yourself too much trying to email video's. Upload to a cloud server and email the link or upload to YouTube and send a private link - it is free and unlimited.
  7. Photo's work for preliminary concept work but as you get closer to a finished product PDF's are the way to go.
  8. That was sort of what I was thinking, and possibly you were able to figure that one out because of your experience with another dialog box. I can't seem to place it right now but I thought when I finally figured out what you were hinting at something very similar had happened to me before. I would be glad to send that one in but I am sure you could detail the intricacies much better than I. My report would just back up yours and I am sure Rocky would be willing to make sure that and his other suggestion gets to the right people. Thanks as always. Chop
  9. I almost thought you were joking and may not have believed it if you had not posted the plan. But that is seriously flaky. As I recall you don't do walkthroughs so how you figured that out is quite a mystery. Has that been sent in as a bug or at the very least a feature request ?
  10. Rocky. It is not quite as simple as Michael suggested but the concept is exactly right since a walkthrough path is really just a cad line and Michael knows them quite well. You would actually set the time for camera 3 and it is the elapsed time of the walkthrough until the end of keyframe 3 so you need to subtract the elapsed time displayed for keyframe 2 to get the elapsed time between 2 and 3. See attached and edited plan file of yours with additional path from the video I posted previously. Walkthrough for Rocky.plan
  11. Try 4.5" if you are not sure. I will print as 3/32". 1/8" is pretty standard but you may be able to get away with slightly less depending or local standards or maybe even the particular plan checker. Do you have a desktop printer for letter size ?
  12. Yes unfortunately these are all workarounds and have different limitations. Might be best if you post a cad detail of exactly what you need including the railing configuration and spindles as you have described the newels well already but the other details will dictate the best method as you also need to consider how it looks in your documentation and not just 3D. Someone may be able to provide you with one on one consultation or a test plan or even a personal video.
  13. Maybe because there are still issues with plot lines that they have not fixed but still need attention ? There is still an offset issue with the color fill that is difficult to ignore but I think there are still a lot of users that use plot lines despite that problem just hoping it will get fixed some day. Even with plot lines and color fill you need to be careful not to let things get to dark or yes it will look muddy. I have even made custom materials to compensate for this problem.
  14. Yes and usually with color fill. Might use some of the other rendering options with conceptual plans but Plot Lines for Construction Documents.
  15. No just refresh unless you have edited any stray lines and they will need to be redone so if you use that feature do it last.
  16. Yes adjust the material definition. Change the vector view under the General tab by making the Strip Height 12" and the Standard view gets defined on the Texture tab. Just change the Scale according to the preview. Usually best to make a copy of the material and rename it.
  17. It was actually .033 because I made another adjustment and it seems to compensate for you sometimes. .01 seems to be the lowest entry possible but maybe Michaels Idea would also work fine or even better.
  18. Could something like this work for you or are you looking for something totally different ? Art Gallery.avi
  19. It would depend a lot on your specific situation. The most predictable thing is to convert both to solids before subtracting. I think polyline solids work if they are both drawn in the same view but that is not always possible when things get a little more complex. Post some screen shots of the steps you are struggling with or a video and plan file and one of the experts will likely be able to help out.
  20. That is all possible with a walkthrough path. There must be something you are missing. Each camera you place along the path can control the angle speed and direction of the view. Maybe post your plan file with some specific questions and they will be answered.
  21. If you might consider doing a workshop I am sure there would be others that would love to join or sit in.
  22. You should be able to get something close to what you need without editing. Just add extra cameras and play with the settings. The Absolute Camera Angles are a little more difficult to setup and require a lot more cameras but offer more control.
  23. Not sure you can stop unless you press pause when playing the video but you could try reducing the speed to almost 0. Or throw in something interesting like a real slow pan while you narrate ?
  24. Welcome to the forum. We were just discussing the subject over here in Q&A:
  25. If you run into that issue again you can place the symbol into a new plan file and use the delete surfaces tool and recreate the symbol.
