  1. Yes make a scale millwork symbol and it can be applied to the railing as a panel.
  2. How about a regular elevation rather than a wall elevation ?
  3. Transform and Replicate has Center, Absolute point, and Current Point settings.
  4. That is your Resize tool indicator . Just toggle it. Edit Modes toolbar.

That sounds like a logical explanation.

You could try renaming your .ini file so you get import options but it was a little strange that I did not get them this time either. That gives you toolbar and template options.

Select a new template manually and it will ask if you want it as default. Or set it in Preferences > General > New Plans.
  8. They sort of have to attach to something in 3D. Does the DBX open after you place the callout ? No schedules in 3D views. If you want that look it can be exported to layout.
  9. I believe I am current ? v. 2019.010.20069 Although I prefer to view in Reader cause I don't have to mess around. Here is my 600 dpi. Acrobat file if you want to compare to yours. It was done in X10. Could try in X11 now that it is public. 13222 Survey Plan Reproduction Adobe.pdf
  10. I would say there is at least a 30% loss of density with the version I posted and another 5% or so with my Acrobat print. Zooming in to the same magnification is the true test, but a quick check is to minimize all three to your taskbar and look at the thumbnails side by side. It is really quite dramatic considering the best one has by far the smallest file size. Original 328 KB Adobe 1,079 KB Chief 8,015 KB
  11. Just tried a 600 dpi. with Adobe and it is not any better than Chief with my settings however the file size is substantially smaller. Here is the Chief Version for comparison : 13222 Survey Plan Reproduction.pdf
  12. Thanks Doug, I don't see any issues with that in PDF in comparison to some of the stuff I work with. Until Chief gets a hold of it. Fairly substantial degradation on that file even printing at 600 dpi with the Chief Architect Print to PDF.
  13. Thanks for sending that in but I would love to see the PDF.
  14. I have had some pretty crappy PDF's from AutoCAD and other software users. I think it is often a practice to put out pdf's that are not of a quality that can be copied and look like originals. Either low resolution or very often not vector PDF or flattened or encrypted. It drives me crazy sometimes why they do it I don't really understand as it makes it really difficult to collaborate. Please do send to CA as they are making the problem worse.
  15. Likely a scanned or copied survey ? Or even copied from a copy ? Try converting to .png or as Tommy has suggested .tiff which I believe is even less lossy or loss less but is not usually required in my experience. That should make quite and improvement in itself but then you can also adjust the brightness as I said above.
  16. Interesting Idea but I would advise not to use a PDF for that purpose. The will most likely be performance issues. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/21230-pdf-resource-drag-why-im-seeing-only-1-core-being-used/?tab=comments#comment-173000 You will be much better off using a .jpg or .png formatted file. And it allows you to adjust the brightness and contrast.
  17. Also good to know but what I meant was just as simple comparison to what Mike posted at the top that shows relative scale.
  18. Hi Rob, Thanks for sharing. Could you post a Plan View Screen Shot so we can see what have created before downloading ?
  19. Yes eventually it will happen but save your customized symbol in your user library for now and maybe there will be other things you will want to customize now that you know how.
  20. Yes that is an issue that can be fixed. Go to Cad Block Management and insert the cad block into your plan and explode the block. Edit to your liking and re block then rename and assign to the symbol as 2D cad block in Symbol DBX.
  21. The spline is smoother and works well as a silent film or with audio track dubbed in. The Camera view walkthrough is effective with narration like you might do in a live web presentation.
  22. No Auto Valley Gutters yet. Will likely require quite a few more feature requests. You can however trim the corner of the roof plane manually and turn on and unlock gutters and pull that back a bit but may need to be replaced with a molding line if it keeps on regenerating. Gap is from space in roof plane. Drop or notch the end rafter to support existing lookouts and remove space in roof plane or place Purlins over rafters and lift fascia to cover.
  23. Here is something from the help file that may be helpful ? Some .pdf files can contain both 2D and 3D information; however, Chief Architect can only support 2D data in an imported .pdf file. When a 3D .pdf file is imported, it may display text, a static image of the 3D model, or it may not import at all. Note: Importing large, or multiple, .pdf files into a plan or layout file can result in program slowness.
  24. Do you have an example of something similar ? Soffits may be an option or you might actually need to use moldings and panels.
