  1. Thanks Dermot, That would definitely explain the slowness. Will go with Mick's suggestion above when necessary in the future.
  2. Very interesting. I don't have much experience with this but tried it yesterday and 17 pages all came in individually and displayed all at once on the plan view screen. Was then able to delete pages individually that were not required.
  3. Unfortunately a lot of the pdf documents that we are faced with using are scanned or flattened and present the same issues as a pdf image. There is often not a choice.
  4. I just brought a 17 page 15mb pdf into X10 and it took a while but eventually displayed it but then brought my system to a crawl. Not sure how your computer spec's compare to mine but would advise that it could be quite slow even with the latest and greatest system.
  5. It should come in on the Cad Default layer. Is that turned on in your All on set ?
  6. How many units are you talking about showing and in how much detail ? Depending on your computer's capability I would likely build each structure in it's own plan file and then the terrain in it's own file and export each structure as a symbol and bring it into position on the terrain plan. If you exceed your computer's capabilities you have not wasted your time and can then export each to a more capable rendering software. Would be good to know what software you are using and the critical specifications of your computer system. You can put these things in your signature so they are always visible when posting.
  7. Rob there are some stock User Defined Macro's the should work for you : %FormattedWidthNearestMM%%FormattedHeightNearestMM%
  8. It might be possible to edit the wall definition but someone would likely need to take a look at a test plan file at least.
  9. Yes I would agree and have done so myself but it seems to take a stack of reports to get things fixed unfortunately. I have been using the workaround for a while now and it would be great to not require a conversion and storage of an extra file.
  10. With .png I have experienced increased resolution and performance but it will depend on the original pdf quality.
  11. David has the right idea but I get better results with .png formatting.
  12. Upload to your cloud account and email the link then you only need to upload it once for everybody you are sending it to.
  13. Wow. Plot lines with color fill has slight misalignment bug but I have never seen that as seriously messed up as your pdf. And your layout view looks the same before printing ? You can't stop a live view from updating when you print. "Automatically Update" option while printing is just in the print dialogue for the print preview, Which is not always accurate. I see that your key notes have stayed in place for the plotline view. It might be good to use a heavier line weight for them. We should maybe explore fixing that or sending an actual image to layout rather than a live view or plot line view. Is that just a small cad detail in a mostly empty plan file or part of a much larger project plan file ? If you can send the layout and plan files I would be willing to take a look for you to make sure it is not a mac issue.
  14. It is possible the the camera may have shifted slightly while you were working and then updated when you printed. Go back and check the layout to see if it looks the same. You might be able to get a sharper image using plot lines with color fill. Also are the key notes in layout or plan view ? Sometimes they can shift if in layout when the layout box is resized.
  15. Nice work guys. Don't forget to place a doorway in your railing as well.
  16. See if this method can be modified to work for you. If not I believe @Alaskan_Son has a special way of making a cabinet symbol within chief and clipping it.
  17. Maybe "PlanSets , which were not available in X9". ? "I was referring to Videos On Plan Views though which were new in X10"
  18. Lee, It appears you are doing everything correctly. The only way I can see that getting fouled is if you are sending to layout with "Make Copy of Active Layer Set" selected in the Send to Layout DBX. Have you tried relinking the layout views ? You can also change the referenced layer set if you need to.
  19. Have you done much work with custom trusses ? You can get almost everything you need except for the compound angle cut with a custom truss basically only utilizing the top chord trimmed off with a truss base at the bottom.
  20. I am pretty sure there are a few feature requests for that but not really sure how high the stack needs to be before something gets implemented into the software. Solid subtraction is the only way I know works for sure on a compound angle like that. There may be one other theory that may be worth a try if you are able to share the plan file I could give it a try.
  21. This is an old one but I don't believe there have been any other improvements in this aspect of the software since. I can't really tell exactly what is going on from your interior shot so if this does not work or does not apply let me know.
  22. Solid's ? I think I made a video a while back. Have you seen that one ?
  23. That could be reproduced but wow.... As Rene just said. It looks like a well done survey at first glance but you could likely save a lot of time by contacting the surveyor and getting the cad file and more importantly the elevation data. Let us know how it goes.
  24. There should be a way to fix that but it would be good to post your plan file for the best answer. Likely a wall or railing setting but it depends on how the model is built.
