That is exactly what this is meant to do.. Reference the file name that the layout box is using.
-
How about using the %referenced_filename% macro in the layout box label ?
-
Where would you like the unit numbers to be displayed ? It seems you could just use a room label and edit it in each unique plan file so it would display in your Kitchen area.

Nice Work Stephen. There is more than just one thing wrong there. Why a connected exterior wall cannot maintain the room definition defies explanation. Unless someone has a reasonable explanation for this behavior it should likely be sent in to tech support for analysis.

Changing Layout sheet size after plans are finished
Chopsaw replied to Evolution's topic in General Q & A
That seems like you did not miss anything Bob. If you think you may be doing that a lot in the future you could format for 12 x 18 and then just tweak some of your scale indicators and print at 2x for Arch D. Also possible to have more than one title block/border per layout file using layout anno sets. Also it is possible to open more than one layout but you must be careful and it is not a recommended thing to do. Bad things can happen. -
Thanks Michael. I almost forgot that was an option after trying the same thing in a Truss Detail and making one huge mess. I really wish they had the same features.

CA X11: can I get my hinged glass doors to be in the window schedule?
Chopsaw replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
I was just playing on Scott's previous comment but I don't write the software so I am hoping it will also be an option in X12. But for now there is always 2D cad and numerous 3D workarounds that have been discussed here on the forum that sometimes get worked into future versions of the software. -
Bob it looks like you are well beyond the auto frame stage so don't hesitate to hand draw what you need if it is more convenient or accurate than pasting things together. It can go relatively easily with multi copy tools etc. Just delete any duplicated areas and retain any walls or framing you do manually. You could actually do everything you pasted together on one detail if you like.

CA X11: can I get my hinged glass doors to be in the window schedule?
Chopsaw replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
There is an easy way to fix that Steve. Just have your windows show as open. Wow thanks to Scott this just became a suggestion thread. -
There are lots of experts here but it is hard to say exactly what the issue may be without seeing the plan file.
-
Ouch ! This would be a similar situation.
-
Nice warm climate I assume ? Post your plan file and someone will do their best to find a solution for you.
-
Yes it certainly is. Does it rain where you intend to build ? Where will the water go ?
-
It would be helpful to see a screen shot of sample rendering as it may just be "Bloom" you are seeing depending on what version you are using.

Using .strftime allows for multiple predefined configurations. https://ruby-doc.org/stdlib-2.6.1/libdoc/date/rdoc/DateTime.html#method-i-strftime
-
Just as Joe posted in the simplest form.

There are a lot of macro's that really should be a part of the software... Maybe some day. Give this a try: Copyright Year.json
-
Not quite sure what you have done. You may need to post your plan file so we can figure it out. 24" CMU wall with roof ?
-
Is this a hardwood floor inlay or a feng shui compass ? You can use material regions for a floor inlay or import an image for feng shui or draw your own with cad tool and create a cad block.
-
From the library you can insert into plan with a right click and "Place Molding Profile" then reflect and place back into library.
-
Check with @Alaskan_Son He has a macro that works nicely.

Thanks for clarifying that Ben. Maybe my beef should be with email providers limiting us to 20-25MB but as Michael said a reduction in quality is not something we are after. There are still glitches with the Chief Print to PDF driver but they are never improved by using another companies driver in my experience, so it is nice to have access to one that works. I would like to be able to use it with other applications. I will need to research PDF optimization or maybe some day that will be an option in Chief.
-
It is unfortunate that the Chief PDF file sizes are so large but they do seem to give the best results overall. Maybe get a cloud account to transfer files. Several companies offer them for free with limited storage. Always nice to have a backup any way so that just ensures it always happens.

You have the right idea but because of the distance it does not seem to work well. I ended up turning off everything but Cad Default and then CTRL + A and selected and isolated the few items that were actually in your build area and put them on their own temporary layer, then once they are all turned off I did a CTRL + A and Fill Window. Be sure you find 2 Polyline solids as going back to try it again they were not displaying properly as they did the first time for some reason but a big marque selection seems to get them or the original CTRL + A. As to how it happens it would be great if once you find the items possibly you could recall loosing them at some point during the build possibly on a centering or reflecting operation ? It seems to happen occasionally to inexperienced users in messy situations but if someone could put their finger on why it would be quite helpful to a lot of users if there was a way for Chief to prevent this type of thing.

You must be in a much friendlier climate than I am here in Canada but I would likely start with the gutter as a roof plane and just modify the materials as necessary.
