Might need to see the plan file to know why it is not displayed in 3D. Materials possibly ?

Something like this maybe ?

Robert, That looks good but Is there a way to make that work for the arch and keystone ?

Q: How do I get control over the macro-generated text on a roof plane?
Chopsaw replied to para-CAD's topic in General Q & A
Hello BT, I was able to follow your formatting to add additional properties to the resulting schedule. Is it possible to format so multiple columns can be totaled in the Text Schedule on the last line much like a stock CA schedule. Additional possibilities would be ridge vent, drip edge, valley flashing, etc. I tried several iterations but failed miserably. -
Q: How do I get control over the macro-generated text on a roof plane?
Chopsaw replied to para-CAD's topic in General Q & A
Use the $tree = nil command in the Ruby console or what I found that works is Micks macro just placed in TMM and then all you seem to need to do is open the Text Schedule and press OK. Here it is posted separately from the package he posted earlier. Mick's clear_tree_Hash.txt Did you get my PM from the other day ? -
Not sure it would be considered a bug as wall framing details are a pretty specific use. Posts and beams will show in a section view but sometimes it is easier to show in the wall detail if you are including them in the plan set any way and it would be wrong to show the wall details without that added detail IMHO.
-
I usually illustrate that type of thing by editing a wall stud in the detail to be the post and then add a cad box to represent the beam.

Also the terrain perimeter will only recognize the rooms on the same level. You did say foundation walls but maybe the terrain perimeter is on level 1 ?
-
Have you selected "Hide Terrain Intersected by Building" in Terrain Specifications > General > Clipping. Also what level is the terrain perimeter on ? X10 introduced manual editing of the terrain hole that makes things easier.

Footings, Step Markers Also posting in the future, a plan file or a simple .jpg screen shot with your question is usually more appropriate than a PDF that needs to be downloaded unless you are actually having issues with the PDF in question. Just helps keep things more efficient for everyone. Thanks.

Wow that is going to be challenging and expensive. Could you get the same square footage and maintain the existing windows where the proposed addition is going by extending the same roof line of the main structure out the gable end towards the back of the lot ? Do you have a chief architect file of the pictured proposal ? The area you have chosen for the addition could make a beautiful outdoor patio area.

Give this a try. There were quite a few electrical library items missing that will likely need replacing. White Rd FIRST F.PLAN1 Chopped.plan

Do you have this years version of HD Pro ?

Why not post the .plan file here and see what we can do for you. Lots of good things happen here that you can not buy.

Annoying truss envelope at tail: how to eliminate?
Chopsaw replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
Yes the attic trusses are really not all that complicated yet I think the way chief goes about it the input data is completely different than any other type of truss and must be very specific to work properly. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00933/creating-an-attic-truss.html -
Yes sometimes there are issues with using a separate layer for paint as only the very outer layers will wrap. Try as a test deleting those and changing the colour of the drywall material or just paint it in a 3D view. It could also be the room divider and how it intersects. To post a plan file just save the plan in a way it is easy to find the area of the error and then close it and post the .plan file the same way you uploaded the .png screen shot.

At the very least post your interior wall definition. It looks like you may have an extra layer or maybe the drywall is in the main layer.

Annoying truss envelope at tail: how to eliminate?
Chopsaw replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
It seems to be the little alcove in the top right side of the bonus room. Not sure the software knows what to do with that. I would run the long wall through to the end and make the small area an attic room for now until you finish the trusses. Lock them all and redo the little alcove after. Hope that helps as I am out of time today but will check in with you next time I am available. -
Annoying truss envelope at tail: how to eliminate?
Chopsaw replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
Are you working in X10 or X11 ? It seems there is a bit or an issue with the software and square cuts not forming properly. However it looks like you have another major issue with your Attic truss. They are tricky and you may have to be absolutely sure the entire structure is symmetrical. However if you can't find the glitch for the auto build you can almost always do it manually. You can post your plan file here or send it to tech support and wait a couple of days. -

Can you post the plan file ? And did you edit the envelope in section view or the truss detail or both ? -
You can also pull profiles from the User Catalog or Core Catalog by right clicking and using the option to "Place Molding Profile" which could save you some time unless everything you do is custom.

Use for "Keep Deck Framing After Deck Room Is Deleted?"
Chopsaw replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
It seems to be a safety feature as Mick says to prevent the loss or automatic rebuild of manual framing. Just like "Retain Wall Framing" but it is all linked to the room definition which can easily be broken when editing tricky details. -
Q: How do I get control over the macro-generated text on a roof plane?
Chopsaw replied to para-CAD's topic in General Q & A
Yes the discussion has become a little complicated for the average user but unfortunately macro's are that way. BT has posted his work for free and allowed us to take advantage of the power of macro's without having to know all the idiosyncrasies. The important thing here is that you are interested and have hung in this far. The roof plane text macro can be placed into what I am calling a text schedule. Michael shared that a stock Chief Architect schedule of any kind with the correct number of columns can be converted to text. The number of columns can actually be edited later by adding tab stops to the Text Specification DBX. Then the data is gutted and replaced to create your own custom schedule. Mine looks like this for the Roof Plane text macro. If this is what you are after just let me know and I will try my best to walk you through what I know. -
input distances are resulting only in feet not inches
Chopsaw replied to teknoell's topic in General Q & A
Probably changed the number style to Decimal Feet when you were doing your Plot Plan earlier.... All the more reason to have DBX specific number styles as an option. -
Q: How do I get control over the macro-generated text on a roof plane?

Perfect. I did not realize that the Living Area Label was a "Room Label" and had acquired the macro I placed in as the default. That sounds like the simplest solution. Thank You !!!
