  1. Model it on the third floor using a doorway. Make the room "Open Below". Model the rooms on the 1st and 2nd floor match as needed.
  2. I've been asking CA to fix this for at least 6 years. It's been one of my most requested fixes. However, it's not just Skylights. It's true for all surface mounted objects on slope roofs. Try to place a Solar Panel for example - the 2D block should automatically be adjusted to show the true vertical projection but it isn't.
  3. Not on vacation - just moved from a 5150 sq.ft house to a 2100 sq.ft. house. Things are really disorganized right now. Still searching for my main modem, etc.
  4. Here you go. It was probably in the old forums and didn't get carried forward. Rollup Garage Door.calibz
  5. Only problem is that if you want to use that info in the Layout then you have to enter it into the Layout. The Project Info macros from the Plan don't work in the Layout.
  6. I do, specifically for consultants that Chief didn't include. Structural Energy Electrical Mechanical Soils
  7. I'm using a custom Note Schedule to create a more comprehensive Room Schedule.
  8. Layout file is the key place to enter the Project Information. I'm not sure why it's available for entry in the Plan File but I suppose you could want to display that information specifically in various Plan Views. In that case it might in fact be different than the Layout. Why would anyone want to do that I haven't figured out. Maybe I'm missing something that would be useful. Or maybe not.
  9. Essentially they are in inches per the scale you created them at. Since a Layout is full size they will be 48 times as large as you want. You just have to select them and resize. The reduction should be to 1/48 of the size.
  10. Hi George, Can you export that to something I can import into Chief?
  11. NOte that Steve posted that back in September of 2018.
  12. The dimensions can be done with a custom macro - assuming the "Note" has an arrow connecting it to the Skylight. I don't know of any way to get a 3D object view.
  13. Another option is to use a "Note". Then you can use that in your Window Schedule. The "Note can have Custom Fields referencing the Skylight.
  14. Joey, I sure hope that's not the case. I use Saved Plan Views in conjunction with Default Sets.
  15. Yes, there are Dynamic Defaults. But it usually (not always) requires the user to specifically choose "Use Default" or something similar in order to change an existing object. But the great majority of defaults are not Dynamic, particularly when it comes to annotation.
  16. At best, that might effect new markers. Changing any default will not effect anything that already exists.
  17. Periods separate objects and methods. Underscores are simply spaces in the name of a method ---- spaces are not recognized as anything in Ruby example: owner.width.to_s owner = object ----- identifies what object to examine width = method ----- get's the attribute width as a measurement to_s = method ----- converts the measurement to a string
  18. Unfortunately there's a problem with Text and Rich Text because Chief is not reporting the text's "room.schedule_number" correctly. It's just reporting that as "" (nil string). This is a bug in Chief that would need to be fixed.
  19. Yes, just have a separate finish schedule for each floor.
  20. Yes to both, I posted last year but I'm not sure. I'm actually using it in a Rectangular Note with the number on the top and the room name on the bottom.
  21. It appears that the problem with this is that there really are no defaults for "Text Line with Arrow" or "Leader Line". That's where it would need to be specified. Personally, I just use a Point to Point Dimension, add whatever text I need to the Segment as "Leading Text" and "Suppress the Dimension Value"
  22. When you imported the symbols you should have specified "Furniishings, Interior". I'm not sure what the limitations are of the Student version, but I would imagine you could get upgraded to the X12 Student version at no additional cost. You just need to contact CA.
  23. I don't mind using the POST tool for COLUMNS. You can specify the shape and use whatever material you want. However, I would like to have "Bases" and "Caps" - especially for Steel Tubes, Steel Pipes & Steel-I (WF) - but also for wood Posts. It would be great if we could just select appropriate Caps and Bases and have the software automatically place them. Actually, if that tool was renamed "POST/COLUMN" it would be more obvious. BTW, does anyone actually specify a Steel-I Beam or Column? I've always used Steel-WF (Wide Flange) as they are structurally superior in almost every case. I-Beams are good for certain things such as tracks for Chain Hoists, etc but are seldom used for structural framing.
  24. Put your questions in the Q & A Forum. This is where you share your tips.
  25. My favorite note: BTF&PTM (Beat to Fit & Paint to Match)
