  1. If you use regular walls you can pull the top of the wall down in an elevation view. You don't need to change the room height.
  2. Only by adjusting the panel height which would need to be less (problem) - or creating a new panel symbol with that spacing. A new Symbol would be my choice. As a new user it would be a good exercise to learn how to create symbols.
  3. The Graphic Scale is accurate regardless of the print size since it's a CAD Block created at "Real World Size" in the PLAN. I actually have it saved in the Library as a part of my "VIEW TITLE" CAD Block.
  4. I provide both text and graphic scale in each view on my Layouts. This is critical because some layout boxes are at different scales. The graphic scale always governs. I also include a note in the right margin that indicates the sheet size & that if not printed at this size the drawings are "Not to Scale". I have had contractors get drawings at smaller sizes in order to "save printing costs". Usually this results in the building department rejecting the plans because the text is too small. Generally they require 1/8" text but if 3/64" they'll accept it.
  5. Basically, the advantage is that you can then place as many copies as you want in the Layout. One CAD Detail Schedule can be sent to multiple Layout Pages. This has been a standard practice with Schedules in Chief for at least since version 9.0
  6. and what render type are you using?
  7. Only by creating and placing a 3D Symbol of an open garage door like that. Chief doesn't do this automatically.
  8. I have a couple of extra Layout Sheet sizes that I use depending on the plan. 24" x 42" 24" x 48" Both of these are custom sizes not provided by standards. I would never use 3/16" scale. If the project is too large for even these sizes I will use a 1/8" scale "Key Plan" and 1/4" scale partial plans.
  9. Scott, I agree with your comments. I'm also not very fond of how difficult it is to select framing when the fill is present. The interior wall fill I simply "Move to Back" - which is where it should be in the first place if it exists at all.
  10. Nancy, Are all of your monitors connected to the RTX 3070? If not, it may be the port that monitor is using doesn't have the appropriate driver.
  11. Rod, You might want to update your signature - assuming you are beyond X10 at this time.
  12. No, Chief only includes totals for Areas (Door, Window & Room categories). It would be nice to have a Totals row for other dimensional data. Maybe a suggestion would be appropriate.
  13. FWIW, I've found that X13 23.2.0.55 is very sensitive to the driver veraion. Make sure you update to the latest driver for your GPU. You should check the GPU status in Preferences and then find, download and install the latest driver for that GPU.
  14. Alan, Anything in the object dbx that doesn't have the little wrench next to it won't be updated when the defaults change.
  15. %interior.casing.name% or just use the "Casing, Interior" column - but you have to assign the casing from the Library. If it's the Default Casing you won't get the name.
  16. Stretch Planes are really pretty simple once you understand their rules. No Stretch Plane -> Symbol stretches and/or shrinks uniformly One or more Stretch Planes -> Symbol stretches and/or shrinks only at those locations Two Stretch Planes with Between those 2 locations -> Symbol stretches and shrinks only between those One Stretch Plane outside of the Bounding Box -> No change at all, Symbol is a fixed size You can have Stretch Planes in each direction. BTW, for most post configurations I would use the "Post" or "Post on Footing" tool - at least as a starting point. I seldom use Symbols for things that Chief can create automatically because those things have more "intelligence" than simple geometry.
  17. FWIW, you can insert macros inside a TB or a RTB and place it inside a room. It will display the data for that room. You can even place the TB or RTB outside of the room and add an arrow connected to the room. Of course the macros have to be room appropriate.
  18. Take a look at each of the following: Schedule Layer - for color, line weights, font, etc Select Schedule and use edit handles to resize and/or move columns Open the dbx and explore settings there.
  19. FWIW, I have many blank pages in my Layout Templates. I just makes it easier to add content anyplace I need it. In addition, pages can easily be moved up and down to facilitate ordering the ConDocs. Some jurisdictions actually have strict rules about formatting the page labels. Prefixes and in some cases sub-numbered pages are not uncommon - especially for commercial projects.
  20. That can get to be very dangerous as detail callouts can very easily be wrong when pages are added or deleted.
  21. Hi Alan, In the project browser add a blank page before the sheet you want to be A-16. Make the Label A-# duplicate that page 14 times so that you have 15 blank sheets in the project browser The blank sheets won't print The downside is that they will show in the project browser but you can mark them to not show in the sheet index.
  22. It depends on how much you have to transfer. If you have a lot of data and programs it could take up to 2-3 hours. But you can be sure everything is on the new computer when it's done.
  23. Yes, but make sure your computer is clean (no malware, etc) and has all the updated drivers. There is also an advanced mode that allows selection of exactly what you want transferred. Since I had most of my files on Dropbox - I really only needed to transfer my programs & settings.
